Ever wondered if the James Bond star wears contact lenses? Here is your chance to find out!
No, Daniel Craig is not known to wear contact lenses. He does not wear colored lenses except when a role requires him to change his eye color from its natural blue. He has been seen wearing glasses in public though, so it is possible that he wears clear contacts because of bad eyesight.

Daniel Craig Always Commits to His Roles
Perhaps most famous for playing the charming James Bond, it is no surprise that Daniel puts a lot of work into making sure he fits into the roles he plays – after all, he went through a lot of training before he played James Bond for the first time!
Another good example would be the 2008 Oscar-nominated movie Defiance. Defiance was a WW2 movie based on the true story of a camp of Jews who escaped the Holocaust. Daniel’s character in this movie is Russian, and Daniel not only learned the language but mastered the accent for this role as well! He spoke about how difficult this was, saying, “I left school at sixteen and I can’t conjugate a verb in any language, even English. So Russian, I just did phonetically. Live [Daniel’s character] has an education and so he took pains to learn it a bit. It was tricky and difficult and especially because Ed [the director] suddenly heard, to his mind, remarkably well from whoever was teaching us Russian and decided to make two or three other scenes in Russian as well. I’m glad that we did it.”
Daniel Craig Has Worn Contacts for Movie Roles
Contact lenses are often used by actors when they need to change their eye color for a particular role, and Daniel has also been known to do this. The most famous instance of this is the movie Infamous, pun not intended. Infamous was a 2006 Doug McGrath film that was meant to be a sequel to the previous year’s Capote. In this movie, Toby Jones’ Truman Capote gets a bit too involved with a pair of convicts as he researches his novel. The fact that the main character is a writer – rather than, say, a celebrity or actor – was one of the things that drew Daniel to this role. “Some of my greatest heroes are journalists,” he has said.
In Infamous, Daniel plays the latter of the two criminals mentioned above, Perry Smith. Perry Smith is a far cry from the suave James Bond; Daniel dyed his hair black and wore dark contact lenses in order to play this character. Daniel went all out for this role, he even sings in the movie! That’s right, Daniel Craig can carry a tune too; he sings one of the film’s titular tracks, Goldmines in the Sky.
Fun fact: Infamous was almost never released because the producers had been on the fence about making a sequel for Capote. However, this changed once the movie received rave reviews at the Venice Film Festival. Daniel himself did not attend this festival, because he did not want his James Bond image to take attention away from the movie. He said, “I had this whole awful debate going on with myself. I thought, ‘I can’t go because otherwise, it will be all about the new Bond being in town.’”
Does Daniel Craig Wear Blue Contacts?
Daniel’s blue eyes are one of his most noticeable features, but are they real? Yes, they are all-natural; Daniel does not wear blue contact lenses. In 2006, he was voted The World’s Sexiest Man in a survey held by Durex. His eyes seemed to play an important role in helping him score this win over the likes of Johnny Depp and even George Clooney.
Around the same time, Daniel spoke about feeling paranoid about the fact that his blue eyes may start to turn grey with time. He said, “Sometimes I think they are getting bluer, maybe. But maybe in 10 years, they’re going to go buoomph! And just go out, and that’ll be it. Old grey eyes is back.”
