The long-anticipated DC Extended Universe movie, The Flash, will finally hit the big screens after a long wait and fans can’t hide their excitement. One name that’s constantly on fans’ lips is Sasha Calle, who will be portraying Supergirl in the film and making her DCEU debut.
Sasha Calle is of Colombian descent, although she was born in the USA. She will be the first-ever Latina to play Supergirl when the DCEU franchise The Flash is released.
Who Is Sasha Calle?
Sasha Calle is a young American actress, singer, songwriter, television personality, and model born on Aug. 7, 1995. She is known for her role as Lola in Young and the Restless and Supergirl in the forthcoming DC movie Flash.
Sasha hails from Boston, Massachusetts, where she lived with her mother, Samira Calle, and her younger brother Jacob. They moved to Colombia when she was only 10 but returned to the United States two years later. Not much has been disclosed about her biological father but her stepfather Kevin manages an Italian restaurant.
From a young age, Sasha loved to perform plays, act, sing, and dance, so after graduating from a local high school in Florida, she moved to Los Angeles in 2014. There, she attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy(AMDA) to broaden her skills.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts in 2017, after which she made her first professional appearance in a sci-fi short film 18 Minutes.
The same year, Sasha Calle portrayed Virginia, her first recurring role in Socially Awkward, a Youtube mini-series. She featured in a couple more films, such as Final Stop, The White Shoes, Deep Cuts, Rogue Tiger, and Young Blood, between 2017 and 2019.
Sasha Calle in Y&R
Sasha’s pure passion for acting became her driving force in 2018 when she bagged a role as Lola in the CBS soap opera Young and the Restless. This huge feat in her career shot Sasha into the limelight and made her even more famous.
“After many auditions, many failed promises, many tears, many collaborations that had fueled my soul, many lessons learned, on a regular day, Y&R calls [two months after the audition] to see if I’d like to test for a contract role,” Sasha said in an interview with AMDA.
“I took it with a grain of salt and showed up. It was another audition. I had gotten far so many times. This was just another opportunity to show a group of people what I loved and what I did best. To my surprise — 40 minutes later — Y&R called and offered me the job. The same week I found my music producer!”
In 2020, her role in Young and the Restless earned her a Daytime Emmy Awards nomination for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series.
Sasha Calle Personal Life
As always, fans of Sasha Calle are eager to know if she’s in a relationship with anyone. But she makes answering that question hard.
Like many celebrities, Sasha likes to keep her personal and romantic life private. This may come as a surprise, considering how beautiful and talented the actress is, but, according to Celebscouples and their records, Sasha Calle is currently single. She has, however, been in at least one relationship in the past, but has never been engaged and has no children.
Going through her Instagram page, one can’t spot a pose with a male apart from her younger brother Jacob whom she is very fond of. After an ugly rejection at a musical audition in the past, Sasha has felt the need to bounce right back into music.
