Sometimes, it really seems like Post Malone can do it all. He’s a rapper. He’s a singer. He’s a songwriter. He can play guitar. He’s even acting now, too. But can he play the piano?
Post Malone can play the piano, although there is limited evidence. There is one video that has surfaced of him playing piano in the company of Justin Bieber, but that seems to be his only attempt at becoming a pianist.
Post Malone can do a lot. The young artist has proven that his versatility is what makes him so popular. He has his parents and upbringing to thank for some of that.
Diverse Music Tastes
Post Malone may be considered one of hip-hop’s finest now, but that doesn’t mean that hip-hop is all he’s into.
Post was born as Austin Richard Post. Born in Syracuse, New York, the young post was exposed to a lot of different music styles. He was a huge fan of Bob Dylan, referring to him as both a “god” and a “genius.”
When he was a teenager, and after moving to Grapevine, Texas, Post got into heavy metal and emo. He even played My Chemical Romance for a DJ set in 2017.
What sparked his interest in heavy metal? The video game Guitar Hero. Post played it a lot in his early teens and his newfound guitar skills even inspired him to try out for a heavy metal band!
Post’s music tastes transformed after he didn’t get the spot in the band—which eventually led him to where he is today.
Guitar Hero
Post Malone may be no expert piano player, but he definitely has some skills when it comes to the guitar.
Post has impressed live and recorded audiences alike with his guitar covers. It’s impressive that not only does he rock the hip-hop world, but also that he can easily cover a Bob Dylan song. And he taught himself the skills to do so!
