Yung Gravy is a well-known rapper and is behind hits including ‘Mr Clean’, but does he have tattoos?
Though at first glance Yung Gravy does not appear to have any obvious tattoos, he does have at least one small tattoo on his lower leg. He revealed the tattoo in an Instagram post.
Learn more about Yung Gravy and his tattoos below.
Who is Yung Gravy?
Born in 1996, Yung Gravy spent his early years in Wisconsin, though he was actually born in Minnesota.
His father died during his teenage years and it is thought that he is an only child.
After high school, he studied marketing at the University of Wisconsin. During the final months of his studying, he was starting to become recognized for his music and was earning significant sums of money.
Despite this, he remained committed to college. “I could’ve dropped out,” he says, “but I wanted to get a degree and make my mom happy.”
Career
Yung Gravy’s music career began online when he started uploading songs to platforms including Soundcloud.
The internet was his route into the industry. “I never really had a connection to music, like a lot of rappers have a friend who [is making music]…I just had to use the internet and learn how to use SoundCloud, YouTube, all that.”
“There’s benefits or easier routes for people who have a connection to start, but I think the internet cuts out all barriers to entry…I just based my brand off watching other artists and being unique.”
Though he started out with SoundCloud and YouTube, he also began releasing music on TuneCore. “I was getting, like, ten thousand a month of TuneCore,” he explains, though he was still in college at the time.
He released the track ‘Karen’ online, and after the success of this, released ‘Mr Clean’ in 2016. The track’s release marked a breakthrough moment in Yung Gravy’s career.
Later that year, he released his first mixtape, and the EPs ‘Yung Gravity’ and ‘Baby Gravy’ came in 2017. He also created a music video for ‘Mr Clean’, which has more than 52 million views on YouTube.
After the huge success of the single, the artist soon embarked on nationwide tours.
He signed a record deal with Republic, and released ‘Snow Cougar’, his first label-backed EP. His debut album with Republic, ‘Sensational’, was released in 2019.
In terms of musical influences, Yung Gravy has a varied taste. “I really like 70s, 80s [music] like Patrice Rushen, Donna Summer… 50s to 90s [music], there’s a whole range of gas in there. But I also really like rap sh*t too.”
Tattoos
In 2020, Yung Gravy shared a photo of himself on a golf course, simply captioning the image “sports.” In the tongue in cheek social media post, he shares two images, a first where he’s wearing only underwear and a second fully clothed, but in both images, he appears ready to take a golfing shot.
In the first image, a small, dark-colored tattoo can be seen just below his right knee. The inking is in the style of a snowflake and has six points.
Besides his own preference in inkings, several fans have chosen a tattoo as the way to show their love of the rapper. In a tweet, one fan shared an image of their new tattoo with the star, which featured an artistic impression of Yung Gravy’s profile.
Showing his appreciation, he responded “u snapped” to the fan.
He also responded to another fan who asked “What should I get for my @yunggravy tattoo?” The musician responded with an image of yet another fan tattoo.
For Yung Gravy, inspiring fans is a rewarding aspect of his career. “I love going on tour,” he says.
“People show up with really intricate tattoos or crazy gifts to shows. Meeting fans and seeing an impact is my favorite part.”
