Both Chris Young and Brett Young are successful country artists in the United States, but are they related?
Chris Young and Brett Young are not related. Although they’re from very similar backgrounds and are close in age, the only thing that ties them together is their career choice.
Read on to learn more about these country-singing superstars.
Young Beginnings
Chris Young was born in Tennessee in 1985. The state is arguably the home of country music, boasting sites such as the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. He began singing and performing from a young age, in his high school’s choir.
As his music talent developed, he began performing in local clubs and bars, expanding into talent shows. With an undoubted talent, he won a televised talent show in 2006 called Nashville Star. He received a record deal and released a self-titled debut album.
From there, the success started rolling in. His subsequent releases topped the charts, and he started touring. He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry as a member, one of the highest forms of achievement for a country music performer.
Conversely, Brett Young was born in Orange County, California, in 1981. He originally gravitated toward sports, being a baseball prodigy in his youth. He received a scholarship to Ole Miss, the University of Mississippi, in 1999.
In 2003, he suffered an elbow injury that brought a sudden end to his sporting career. While he’d sung sporadically in the late nineties, it wasn’t until that point that he decided to look at music as a potential career.
He worked on this interest, and by 2007 he’d released his debut EP. After a long development period, Brett Young released a second album in 2011. However, by 2018, he’d have released five albums in total.
Country By Comparison
The country music aspect is where the ends for the two Young men. While Brett and Chris aren’t related in any way, they’re bonded by their talent and skill in the musical world. They’re yet to perform with each other on the main stage, however.
Chris Young is arguably the more successful of the two, having released seven studio albums by 2020. He boasts more critical acclaim, having been awarded more accolades by far. Strangely, their respective net worths were very similar. In 2020, Chris had a net worth of around four million dollars, while Brett boasted a worth of approximately three million.
However, Brett Young may be considered the more successful artist when looking at viewership. His top song, In Case You Didn’t Know, has received almost three hundred million streams on Spotify alone. By comparison, Chris Young’s top song, I’m Comin’ Over, had less than two hundred million.
Brett has lived in the heart of Tennessee for many years, in Nashville. He married his wife in October 2019 and they’ve since welcomed their first child, Presley Elizabeth. By contrast, very little is known about Chris Young’s private life.
In 2019, an article surfaced explaining why Chris Young doesn’t speak about his love life. He says: “I know it drives people nuts, but that was a conscious decision I made several years ago.” He explained that he keeps his private life private.
It’s easy to see where the confusion may arise from when discussing these two stars. They boast stark similarities in skill, career, age and even appearance. As shown by these two images on Instagram, they sport similar visages: Chris and Brett.
However, it’s a true, hard fact that the two are not related by family or blood in any way at all.
