Mila Kunis is a great actress and a decent dancer, but is singing one of her many talents?
There’s no evidence that Mila Kunis is a good singer. The Golden Globe-nominated actress enjoys singing to her kids, but she’s yet to star in a project that showcases her vocal abilities.
Stick around to hear Mila Kunis sing and learn more about her other secret talents.
Mila Kunis Singing
Mila Kunis still hasn’t starred in any musicals so it’s difficult to determine if she’s a good singer or not. Some of her previous projects, however, included several musical numbers.
The 100th episode of That ‘70s Show was pretty special in many ways, but one thing made it unforgettable – hilarious musical numbers. The episode was titled That ‘70s Musical, and it showed Fez making up musical numbers in his head before starring in a school musical show.
This episode featured music from The Turtles, The Ramones, and Peaches & Herb. One of the songs included was “Love Hurts” by Nazareth, and it was performed by several cast members, including Mila Kunis.
This brief performance wasn’t sufficient evidence of her vocal abilities, and she didn’t do much better in the teen movie Get Over It. She was one of the performers in the musical version of Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream but didn’t do much singing in this scene.
Mila Kunis enjoys singing at home to her kids, and her husband Ashton Kutcher shared a hilarious video that shows them performing the Spanish children’s tune “La Vaca Lola”. Judging by their vocal abilities in this video, they won’t be dropping a hit album anytime soon, but at least they’re having fun.
Mila’s Dancing Skills
Mila Kunis might not be the best singer in the world, but her dancing skills are pretty impressive. She delivered one of the most memorable performances of her career in Black Swan, a psychological thriller set in the world of professional ballet.
Kunis casually practiced ballet as a child before landing this role but dancing still wasn’t one of her strongest suits. “I have two left feet. I have no rhythm. I had never considered myself a dancer, and I probably never will,” she told The Independent.
This didn’t stop her from landing the role off free-spirited ballerina Lily, and a Skype interview was all it took to convince the director Darren Aronofsky that she was right for the part.
Preparing for the role was much more difficult than actually winning his trust, and she practiced 4-5 hours a day, seven days a week, to learn how to dance en pointe. It was a physically excruciating process, and Kunis sustained a number of injuries along the way.
Learning to dance wasn’t the only thing that she struggled with. She smoked cigarettes and ate only 1,200 calories a day in an attempt to lose 20 pounds for the role.
“I didn’t starve myself. I did do it in the healthiest way possible. I don’t recommend anybody ever doing it. I had to look skinny in order to look like a ballerina. You fake it. So, the best way to fake it is to, unfortunately, look like it,” Kunis told Howard Stern.
Mila’s Secret Talents
Dancing isn’t Mila Kunis’ only talent. The Golden Globe-nominated actress also speaks fluent Russian, which isn’t surprising since she grew up in the Soviet Union before moving to the US.
Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, a city located on the territory of today’s Ukraine, and barely knew any English when her parents enrolled her in elementary school in Los Angeles. They accepted several odd jobs so they could take care of Mila and her brother Michael, and supported her acting aspirations even though they could barely afford it.
Kunis revealed another surprising talent while promoting The Spy Who Dumped Me with Kate McKinnon – burping on cue. She said that her dad taught her how to do it, and her co-star was surprised that she wasn’t aware of Mila’s secret skill on set.
