Romain Bonnet has been a cast member of “Selling Sunset” since the show’s inception. Bonnet is the partner of Mary Fitzgerald but has he cheated on Mary?
Romain Bonnet did not cheat on Mary Fitzgerald. Mary was unhappy after Romain’s Las Vegas bachelor party when she discovered that women had been invited into Romain’s suite after he assured her it would not happen. The women were brought into the suite by Romain’s friends, not Bonnet himself, and Mary felt he had betrayed her trust by not telling her. They have since moved past the incident.

Romain Bonnet
Romain Bonnet originally moved from France to Los Angeles while working as a pastry chef. He was also receiving steady modeling work and, since many of his jobs required him to travel to the United States, he decided to move to the country permanently.
After meeting Mary, Bonnet was encouraged to enter the real estate business. He became a project manager, working on the Oppenheims’ numerous property investments around California.
After quickly working his way up the ladder, Bonnet became one of the group’s most trusted project managers, tasked with bringing any property up to the high standards expected of The Oppenheim Group.
Romain and Mary
Bonnet first met Mary Fitzgerald when he was looking at properties in LA, with Fitzgerald assigned as his real estate agent. They both felt immediate chemistry and began dating.
The age gap between Romain and Mary isn’t a secret and was one that Mary, rather than Romain, expressed concern about when they started dating. She shared these concerns with her coworkers, which were exacerbated by the fact that Romain was unsure about wanting to have children.
However, when Romain asked Mary to marry him, her concerns seemed to fade and she happily accepted. They were married on the show in October 2019, with much of the show’s season focused on the build-up to their wedding.
There was some controversy in August 2020 when TMZ discovered that Bonnet and Fitzgerald were actually married 19 months before their marriage on Netflix. The celebrity newsgroup obtained a copy of the couple’s wedding certificate which showed that they were actually married on March 9, 2018, at the Ventura Courthouse.
A spokesperson explained that this was because the couple had been married in secret, four months after Mary’s divorce from her second husband was finalized. Their motivation for keeping it secret was that they were unsure how their families, particularly Mary’s, would react.
Despite already being joined in a civil union, the Netflix wedding was the couple’s public celebration of their relationship. The new probably came as a shock to many viewers but should also serve as a reminder not to trust everything you see on reality TV.
Las Vegas
There was some tension between Romain and Mary following their wedding, though it wasn’t primarily due to Romain’s own actions. Before his bachelor party in Las Vegas, Romain promised Mary that he wouldn’t bring any women back to his suite.
Romain kept his word but his friends Jason and Brett Oppenheim brought women into the suite. Bonnet failed to tell his wife about the incident, leaving her to find out from other sources.
Mary was angry that Romain would hide the truth from her but was also confident that he would never cheat on her. She said that he is not the kind of man who would cheat, feeling that he would sooner separate from her than do something to hurt her.
The couple had a frank talk after the incident, with Romain expressing that he felt really bad about it. We have no reason to believe that Bonnet has ever cheated on Mary, just that she was very unhappy about his bachelor party, and they remain happily married.
