For so many girls across the world, the news that Nick Jonas, one half of the hit boy-group, The Jonas Brothers, was being taken off the single market for good, was heart-breaking. Nevertheless, as fans, we are, of course, happy that he was able to find love. The question is, where did he get married?
Nick Jonas married his fiancée, Priyanka Chopra, at the Jodhpur Umaid Bhavan Palace in India. The palace is one of the most expensive hotels in the world, an active royal palace, and definitely one of the most beautiful places you could ever get married.
Today, we’re going to take a nice little trip into the memory of the marriage, highlighting the heartwarming journey of where the couple met, where they got married, and even some fun facts about the palace itself. Here’s a nice little virtual tour to wet your whistle.
The Happy Couple
Yes, if you were a fan of the heartthrob who is Nick Jonas, hearing that he was dating and then married the Bollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra, would surely have brought a tear to your eye, but don’t worry, Nick is reportedly very happy in his relationship, so what more can we ask for?
The couple met at the Met Gala back in May 2017, dated for about a year, and then got engaged. If you don’t know much about Priyanka Chopra, she’s one of the highest-paid Bollywood actresses in the world and holds such accolades as one of Time Magazine’s top 100 most influential people in the world (2016) and one of Forbes Most Powerful Women in the world (2017).
Sounds like Nick definitely knew how to pick the one for him.
While Chopra’s roots are in the Bollywood movie industry, there’s no doubt that marrying Nick has helped her break into what many of us would call our mainstream media. She has appeared in US shows like Quantico and has secured roles in Western movies, like A Kid Like Jake and Baywatch.
The Wedding Day
Of course, being one of the wealthiest Disney stars in the world and one of the wealthiest Bollywood stars, you expect there to be an exceptionally elaborate wedding, which was, of course, the case.
The pair were married on Saturday, 1st December 2018, in celebrations that reportedly lasted three days.
Respecting the heritage from both sides of the family, there was a traditional Christian wedding ceremony that took place on the Saturday, with a traditional Hindu wedding taking place the following day. However, the festivities started as far back as November 26th, when everyone attending the wedding was invited to a Welcome Dinner in Mumbai.
Over the following days, there was a lot of singing and dancing. Both the Chopra and Jonas families took part in the Sangeet, a Hindu celebration involving dancing and henna decorations. We mean, take a look at this clip from Chopra’s Instagram at the time.
Yup, this is actually someone’s wedding celebrations, not a stage production you can go see. And this was just the Friday. Come the weekend, the actual wedding ceremonies started to take place, with Jonas arriving on a horse for the Indian ceremony.
Come Monday, the wedding ceremonies were over, and Jonas and Chopra were officially husband and wife, and probably extremely tired from the non-stop action that seems to have taken place over the week. After many happy years, the pair are still together with smiles on their faces.
The Best Hotel in the World
All the wedding celebrations took place at the Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur, India, which is hailed by critics as being ‘the best hotel in the world.’ To give you an idea of class, if you want to stay in the Presidential Suite, it’s going to cost you roughly $17,000 per night. Insane.
The hotel is actually part of a gigantic royal palace, which is known as being one of the largest private houses in the world. Just a small section of the palace, one wing to be precise, is the hotel, which is managed by a company known as ‘Taj Hotels,’ a huge hotel company in India.
The building was built back in 1929 and finished in 1943, and has been a home for the Indian royal family ever since. The family lives in one part, the hotel is in another, and there’s one section that’s a dedicated museum that focuses on the 20th Century history of the Jodhpur family.
With 9.6/10 star ratings, a prime central location, and offering one of the most amazing hotel experiences you could ever dream of, if you ever get a chance to stay in the hotel yourself, you can be sure it’s going to be somewhere you’re never, ever going to want to leave.
