He certainly didn’t drop from the sky, did he? Let’s take a look at the parents of Post Malone before he became Post Malone.
Born as Austin Richard Post on the 4th of July, 1995, in the town of Syracuse, New York, Post Malone was raised by Rich Post, his dad, and Jodie Post, his stepmother.
He grew up and lived in Central New York until he was 9 years of age. The New York State Fair was a regular family summer vacation.
Post Malone got introduced to different music genres, from rock and country to Hip Hop, by his father, Rich Post, who had been a Disc Jockey in his youth.
Malone learned to play the guitar through the popular video game, Guitar Hero, and at the age of 9, his family moved to Grapevine, Texas. This was due to the fact that his father was offered the job to manage the concessions for the Dallas Cowboys at the AT&T Stadium.
Who is Post Malone’s Birth Mom?
Not much is known about Post Malone’s birth mom, Nicole, except for the fact that she is, very much, in contact with her son, Malone, and that she moved to Texas, just to be in touch with him. They still maintain close contact until this day.
Post Malone’s maternal grandmother, Diana, gave birth to four kids, one of which is Nicole, before she passed away at the age of 61 in 2006, while his maternal grandfather, Joe, is married to Joan, Malone’s step-grandmother.
Post Malone has a half-brother, Jordan, who was born to Nicole and her ex-partner, and a stepbrother, Mitchell, who was born before Jodie met up with Rich Post.
Why Choose Post Malone As a Stage Name?
Austin Richard Post chose “Post Malone” as a stage name when he was 14 going on 15. Although the name has been rumored to be a reference to Karl Malone, a professional basketball player, Post Malone cleared up the issue by explaining that “Post” was from his last name, while “Malone” was generated by a “rap name generator.”
His Rise To Fame
Post Malone rose to fame in 2015, as an exceptional musician and rap performer, with his hit track “White Iverson.” But that’s not where it all started, as Malone was quite passionate about music way back before he attended college.
He signed his first music contract with Republic Records in 2015, after he released “White Iverson,” and released his second track, titled, “Too Young.”
In 2016, Malone released his first album, titled, “Stoney.” The album consisted of 14 tracks and 4 bonus tracks. Not only were the tracks authentic, but they were also tuneful and recitative.
The apple never falls too far from the tree, and we can clearly see that Malone picked up his performance gift from his disc jockey dad. While he worked as a manager in the concession stand for the Dallas Cowboys, he spent his free time with his some, Malone, singing together and listening to various music genres.
In an interview with radio station Hot 97, in 2015, Malone told the station how he started it all, in his own words, “My dad was always playing music… Not like playing music, but listening to music. And he put me on everything… Folk and funk and rap. I moved to Dallas and I started making music. So, that’s really it. And from then on I just started making what I like. Playing guitar. And writing my own songs. And just making music.”
Malone’s Love Life
Malone isn’t married and has no kids but has been in a relationship with music promoter and producer Ashlen Diaz since 2015 and they’ve been together ever since then.
Malone’s Successes
His debut album, “Stoney,” contained the hit single “Congratulations” which he received a Diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for, while the album was on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-hop Albums chart for 77 weeks, creating a new record after breaking Michael Jackson’s 34-year-old record of 76 weeks on the chart.
He has a Billboard Music Award, three American Music Award, and an MTV Video Music Award to his name with six Grammy Award nominations.
Post Malone’s parents still live in Grapevine, Texas and his birth mother also moved to Texas to stay close with her son.
