Bruno Mars has been compared to several different people in the entertainment world, from talent to looks. Some of the people he’s been compared to include Michael Jackson, Prince, The Weeknd, and The Rock. Are Bruno Mars and The Rock related?
Bruno Mars and ‘The Rock’ are not related. There have been a couple of comparisons between the two but there is no relation.
Not only have their been pictures of the two looking alike, but they are also both Hawaiian with Filipino blood. While Bruno has had parts in two films, I don’t think that The Rock has to worry about him stealing his acting career. Just like Bruno doesn’t have to worry about The Rock becoming a breakout singer after singing in Moana. Which he did just fine by the way.
Peter Gene Hernandez
Peter Gene Hernandez was born in Hawaii and received the nickname Bruno at a young age as he reminded his father of a wrestler with the same name. When he was 3 years old his uncle convinced him that he should perform as a young Elvis impersonator. A year later, young Bruno began performing with his family’s band, The Love Notes, five nights a week at the age of 4.
He continued to perform every night, while attending school during the day, up until he was 12 years old. At that time his parents divorced and The Love Notes stopped performing. He continued his interest in all things musical and moved to Los Angeles to pursue music as a career, after graduating high school at the age of 17.
It was after his arrival in Los Angeles that Bruno added the “Mars” to his stage name. He wanted to avoid being typecast as a Latin, Spanish singer, so he wanted to have something that was more generic. He was often told by girls that he was out of this world, so he figured he must be from Mars, and the moniker stuck.
Dwayne Douglas Johnson
Dwayne Douglas Johnson has a biography that might be even more impressive than Bruno Mars’. He’s gone through several career changes from criminal, to a football player, to wrestler, to actor, producer, and singer in Hollywood. Not to mention fitness buff, author, brand sponsor, husband, and Dad.
When he was younger, Johnson moved around quite a bit and got himself into some trouble. Eventually, he got his life on track and joined the family business; wrestling. It was here that he started using the moniker Ther Rock. His father, who was originally from Nova Scotia, was a wrestler in the WWE and was part of the first black tag team champions in the league.
Johnson’s grandmother and grandfather on his maternal side were both wrestlers, with his grandfather being part of the famous Samoan Anoa’i wrestling family. Both Johnson’s father and grandfather have been inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame. His oldest daughter has followed in her family’s footsteps as well, as it was announced in February 2020 that she signed on with the WWE as well.
With everything Johnson touches, seemingly turning to gold, it’s no surprise that he had an amazing wrestling career, and one of the most prolific in the sport. His fortune followed him to Hollywood where his movies have made over $3.5 billion in North America alone, skyrocketing him to one of the highest-earning movie stars of all time.
And as if that wasn’t enough, he’s a Samoan chief. Well, he’s actually been bestowed the title Seiuli, due to his ancestry to Samoan chiefs, and in recognition of the work he’s done for the Samoan people.
Similarities
There are several similarities between the two celebrities, though they took different paths. So, not only do they look alike in several pictures, but they both got into a little trouble but then put that in the past, they’ve excelled at their careers, and by the looks of their social media exchanges, they both seem to have a great sense of humor. One thing that is different however is their size. Dwayne Johnson stands at 6’5” while Bruno Mars is a full foot shorter than him, standing not-so-tall at 5’5”.
