Orlando Bloom is engaged to one of the biggest pop stars and judges on American Idol, Katy Perry. There’s a good chance he’s surrounded by a lot of singing. Can Orlando Bloom sing?
Orlando Bloom has been known to belt out a tune or two. He’s been caught singing in the car, at a karaoke bar, on set between takes, and even on stage as a 15-year-old. He and Perry will have more to sing about later in the summer of 2020 when she gives birth to their daughter.
I don’t think he has plans to release an album, or even duet with Perry, but he did play a rock star once. It seems like he can’t help himself at times. We just imagine what their household is like at times.
History of Singing
Singing has been around pretty much as long as humans have been around. Though it may not have always sounded as it does today, singing has none the less been around longer than written history.
There is a reason people say that music is a language everyone understands. Every culture, no matter where they are located, or how remote they may be, has singing, in one format or another.
Singing began before musical instruments were invented, with voice being the first instrument. Some cultures began singing by chanting and some by prayer, and some cultures carry on those traditions today.
When most people think of singing, they think about what they hear on the radio, or perhaps what is sung in church. Music has meant many things to many people over the years. Songs have been sung about heartache, basic rights and freedoms, and some that really have no meaning at all.
One of the most popular singing venues could be the shower or the car! That’s the closest many of us will get to sing in the big time. And for some of us, that’s probably for the better.
Bloom’s Training
Orlando Bloom’s acting career started in his early teens when it was discovered that he had dyslexia. His mother encouraged him to take art and drama classes. He ended up dropping out of school at 16 to move from Kent to London to pursue it on a more serious note.
Bloom has since received professional schooling for drama, attending National Youth Theatre, British American Drama Academy, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, all of which are located in London, England.
He originally planned on seeking a career on stage when he graduated Guildhall School of Music and Drama but was immediately cast in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy as Legolas. He moved to New Zealand for two years to film the three movies and before the release of them all had other bit parts and then was cast in another successful franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean.
Though he ultimately pursued acting in front of the camera, he has since gone back to the stage for smaller stints, including playing the male lead in a Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet.
What the Future Holds
Nobody ever truly knows what the future holds, but I’m sure there will be some more music in Orlando’s future as he and Perry sing lullabies to their daughter.
Perry’s pregnancy was announced to coincide with the release of one of her songs and videos, titled Never Worn White. She wrote the tune about her love for Bloom and wanting to marry him.
After becoming engaged in February of 2019, the couple had originally planned on getting married in an intimate ceremony in March of 2020. The nuptials were put on hold after the pandemic outbreak and a new date has not been released. No word yet if they will be married before they expect the arrival of their little one.
