Many professional athletes have talents and hobbies that often get overshadowed by their dominance on the field. Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is no different; he tends to get the spotlight exclusively for his gift of athleticism. This makes it easy to wonder whether there are any hidden talents that he has stored behind the scenes.
Even though Brady has had a few memorable on-camera moments flexing his vocal cords, it’s thought that he doesn’t have much talent as a singer – but of course, someone’s singing ability is subjective. Read on to see some videos of Brady singing.
Read on to learn more about these moments, the fan contribution to his musical repertoire, and what talents he actually possesses.
Caught On Camera
In 2019, Brady was not-so-secretly filmed by his Patriots teammate and defensive end Trey Flowers while he was singing “Bad Boys For Life” by P. Diddy. The short video offers a rare glimpse into the personality of a man who normally keeps his personal life on the down-low.
We’ll leave it up to the audience to judge how he compares to the original.
Way back in 2005, he accepted an offer to be a host on Saturday Night Live. During the introduction of his stint, he surprises everyone and sings a song exaggerating his talent as a football player and comically listing a bunch of impossible skills he claims to know how to do. The regular cast of SNL surrounds him during the song and tries to talk him down from his bold claims, saying that he “doesn’t have to be good at everything.” He even throws a few dance moves into the act.
Brady may not have any music of his own, but that didn’t stop fans from using video footage of him and his “voice” to create musical masterpieces.
In 2012, Brady showed that he apparently had all it took to cover the song “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. YouTuber Jerome Aquino clipped together video segments of the football star saying each word within the chart-topping pop song in completely different situations. The result was a musical mosaic that Brady probably didn’t know he was capable of.
In 2017, YouTuber Peter Abbe posted an extremely popular parody of “Closer” by The Chainsmokers titled “Brady Pull Me Closer.” The video now has over a million views and serves as a tribute to the renowned quarterback and all his accolades.
Other Talents
Even though singing doesn’t take up much of Brady’s free time, the man has got some other hobbies up his sleeve.
The high-caliber athlete doesn’t have a lot of free time, considering he’s got a family who takes up most of it. He says most of his downtime comes when he’s driving or traveling by himself. But he told CBS Sports that when he does get a few moments for real leisure, he has some go-to activities.
One of the more family-oriented hobbies he commits to is reading to his children before bed. He loves to crack open books by Dr. Seuss or Shel Silverstein for the kiddos.
When it comes to personal hobbies, Brady loves outdoor activities. He spends time surfing, golfing, and even cliff diving.
When he’s not practicing or playing, he’s watching video recordings of past games and practices. It may sound like a lot to not have much “off” time, but Brady says that he loves the game, which makes it seem like less of a job. As the saying goes – “choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”
No Singing? No Problem
Though it’s not likely that Brady spends his free time singing, we can enjoy the clips released to the public every once in a while that showcase the times when he’s tapped into his musical side and made a joyful noise. Plus, he’s got lots of other hobbies that help us appreciate him outside of his football prowess.
