Many celebrities like decorating their body with unique tattoos and some of them are so subtle that you wouldn’t even notice them at first. Jessica Alba isn’t one of the stars who enjoy putting their tattoos on full display, but is this because she doesn’t have any?
Jessica Alba has tattoos, but she regrets marking her body with some of them. That’s not the case with every tattoo she’s ever got, and her latest three hit close to home.
Keep on reading to find out how many tattoos she has, and what the meaning behind all of them is.
Jessica Alba’s Tattoo Collection
Jessica Alba doesn’t seem to be a huge fan of ink when compared to some other celebrities, but she still has a couple of tattoos.
Daily Mail reported that the actress got a ladybird and daisy inked onto the back of her neck in 2007. It was apparently a part of “a bonding experience” with her mother and aunt, but she didn’t seem to be too fond of this tattoo later in life.
Alba’s two other notable tattoos were connected to her failed relationships. She revealed she was going through a breakup when getting the infamous “tramp stamp” tattoo on her lower back, but this wasn’t her only post-breakup ink.
The Fantastic Four actress also discussed the tattoo on her right wrist during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and said she got it after her first big split.
“It’s lotus in Sanskrit. It means manifestation of spiritual beauty. He was really anti-tattoos, and I felt like after I broke up with him, I found myself again,” Alba told Colbert.
Back in 2012, Alba was also spotted with roses tattooed on her left bicep, but it quickly turned out it was not permanent ink, and that she only got it for the role in the movie A.C.O.D.
Two Big Regrets
Picking the right tattoo can be quite tricky because they stay with you for life, and Alba admitted she regrets one or two of her tattoos. Back in 2016, Allure asked her to share some advice she would’ve given her younger self, and not getting inked was one of her top tips.
“You’re never going to be in the same place emotionally and mentally at 18 that you are at 20 or 25 or 30. Something that’s meaningful to you when you’re younger is not going to be meaningful to you five years later. Understand that tattoos are forever,” said the actress.
Alba also told Refinery29 that she was irritated by the flower tattoos she got on her neck at the age of 17. If you pay closer attention to this ink, you’ll notice it faded over time because she lasered it more than once in an attempt to remove it.
Her biggest regret, however, is a “tramp stamp” tattoo shaped like a bow, located on her lower back. She discussed the embarrassing tattoo during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden and didn’t even mind being made fun of by the host and guest Ben Schwartz, because she already knew how cringy it is.
Honoring Her Kids
The days of getting tattoos that she’ll regret later in life are long behind Jessica Alba. Her three most recent inks have a really special meaning and they’re dedicated to her kids Honor, Haven, and Hayes.
Back in March 2019, Alba shared a photo standing alongside tattoo artist Doctor Woo and showing off her three new inks. They represent constellations of her children’s astrological signs, and she’s 100% certain that she’ll cherish them forever.
“I really wanted to think about what would be meaningful over time, because when you get something when you’re 17 and now you’re 38, you’re like, Hmm, don’t know if that’s too meaningful. But for that one, the kids are forever,” Alba told Refinery29.
