Now in her mid-40s, Shakira continues to amaze fans with her spectacular dance moves and seemingly endless energy. Does the Colombian pop icon have any tattoos?
Shakira does not have any tattoos that have been revealed to the public. While it’s possible that she might have one hidden, she has made no reference to this so we must assume that, for now, she has none. She famously had a fake shoulder tattoo on the cover of her 2001 album “Laundry Service”.

Shakira and Tattoos
It’s difficult to write about Shakira and her tattoos because, quite simply, she doesn’t have any.
While it is possible that she has a tattoo hidden somewhere on her body, considering some of her revealing outfits such as the ones she wore at Super Bowl LIV, it seems unlikely.
After all, we no longer live in a society where pop stars are expected to not have tattoos (at least in the US). At this point in Shakira’s hugely successful career, it seems unlikely that anybody could tell her no if she wanted to get one.
It’s worth noting that, as far as anybody can tell, her longtime partner and father of her children, Gerard Pique, has also not been tattooed. Considering how common tattoos are in modern soccer, the FC Barcelona defender is quite a rarity.
Even his once tattooless teammate, the legendary Lionel Messi, now sports a great deal of ink.
Perhaps a disinterest in tattoos is just another thing that Shakira and Pique have in common; it certainly seems that neither will be pressuring the other to get a tattoo. Unless, of course, they decide to take the plunge together at some point.
Laundry Service
The one place we can see Shakira with a tattoo is on the cover of her 2001 album “Laundry Service”.
The album was Shakira’s first after transitioning to writing and singing in English, following a highly successful few years in the Spanish speaking world.
As such, there was an immense amount of pressure on the singer, who had already received some backlash for “abandoning” her Spanish speaking audience in the pursuit of global fame.
Even before the music itself, the first impression Shakira would make on many of her new potential fans would be the album’s cover. The cover’s first impression was a bold one.
A seemingly nude Shakira (perhaps because it was laundry day) looks back over her right shoulder at the camera.
Just as she debuted a new language with the album, she also debuted a new look. Although we’ve been accustomed to the Colombian star having various shades of blonde and light brown hair over the past two decades, “Laundry Service” was actually the debut of the blonde look.
Her early struggles and successes in Colombia had been with her natural, dark hair.
Whether this change was an attempt to appeal to global audiences (Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera were already superstars), a way to symbolize a new stage in her career and life or simply (and just as likely) because Shakira wanted to have blonde hair for a while, we can’t know.
On her right shoulder, the album’s title, “Laundry Service”, was written in curved letting, in the style of a tattoo. Perhaps this was a way of announcing to the world that Shakira would be bringing more of a rock edge to her music than her peers Britney and Christina.
It would be somewhat ironic if this was the reason for choosing a fake tattoo for the cover’s title since Shakira apparently has no real tattoos almost 20 years later.
Whatever the case, the cover clearly played its part well, as “Laundry Service” has sold more than 3.5 million copies in the United States since its release in 2001.
