When you discover that Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen are both top earners in their respective career fields, it’s easy to wonder if they’ve decided to use part of their massive amount of disposable income to top off their life of extravagance by purchasing a private jet.
In 2008, Tom Brady’s wife Gisele Bündchen bought a $50 million Gulfstream G550 private jet for the two to share to fly them between their home in Los Angeles and Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts.
Read on to learn more about the purchase, the features of the jet, and the myriad of other expensive items the family now owns.
No More Commercial Flying
In 2008, Bündchen decided to join the club of other top-earning celebrities who pour money into high-caliber private transportation. Commercial flights just weren’t going to fly anymore.
For a while, Brady flew his parents out to visit him with a private jet, but the time came for the pair to own one themselves.
Bündchen decided to go through with the couple’s most expensive purchase to date and put her name on the deed to a private jet.
And though Brady wasn’t the one to pull the trigger on the purchase, he still reaps all the benefits.
The couple didn’t get their hands on it immediately.
The company who manufactured the jet of choice informed Bündchen that the model she desired wouldn’t even be available until 2010.
The jet of choice was a Gulfstream G550, a powerful machine that matches the prowess of the couple who rides it. It has room for 19 passengers and can fly for 12 hours without needing to be refueled. It can also reach speeds of over 600 miles per hour.
And they’re in good company in terms of ownership – Tiger Woods has the same model.
Beyond the Jet
For a while, the couple stated that they didn’t need to go all out in the luxurious lifestyle, using this as the reason why they hadn’t bought a private jet up until the time of purchase.
But the reality is that the couple has a long list of expensive toys that make us question their definition of “luxury.”
Brady’s car collection is arguably the most impressive.
Among the fleet – listed from least expensive to most expensive – is a Lexus GS, an Audi S5, a Rolls-Royce Ghost, an Aston Martin DB11, an Audi R8, and a Ferrari M450. The most expensive car he owns is a sweet ride worth $1.7 million – the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
Brady was so tightly associated with luxury car ownership that Aston Martin even released a line of cars called none other than the “Tom Brady Signature Edition” in 2017.
Due to his Super Bowl wins, he has won several free cars in addition to the ones he swiped his own card for. However, they weren’t quite “his style,” so he often gave them away to teammates.
Cars aren’t the only things he has gifted to his fellow New England Patriots. In 2007, Brady bought all of his offensive lineman a $42,500 Audi Q7 SUV. And in 2015, Brady spent $35,000 giving each of his teammates five brand new pairs of the very UGG brand boots that he spent so much time promoting – turns out that his UGG contract ran deeper than the cash he was getting from the deal.
A Life of Luxury
With his private jet, collection of high-end cars, and lavish gift-giving habits, it’s clear that Brady leads a life that most can only dream of.
In reality, the 6th-round draft pick himself probably only thought this was the stuff of dreams as well.
Despite the indulgent lifestyle, he also makes sure to use his big bucks to give back to both his teammates and his community.
Given all the gift-giving and gift-receiving Brady goes through, we can safely assume that it only goes up from here.
