Many of Hollywood’s biggest stars follow a special diet to stay healthy and in shape, and some of them happen to be vegan due to ethical reasons. Jessica Alba has been pretty outspoken about her healthy lifestyle, but does that mean she follows a plant-based diet?
No, Jessica Alba is not vegan. She used to be a vegetarian at one point in her youth, but those days are now behind her. Her diet still includes a healthy portion of fruits and veggies, but she doesn’t shy away from eating meat and fish every once in a while.
Young Vegetarian
Fantastic Four star doesn’t follow a vegan diet at this point in her life, but there was a time when meat wasn’t a part of her daily menu. She became aware of the importance of a balanced diet at a young age, and used to be a vegetarian in her youth.
“I was aware at a very young age about the importance of eating healthy. I became a vegetarian at 12 until the age of 16. So I was cooking my own meals, different from the rest of the family,” explained Alba.
She’s currently putting a lot of effort into making sure here kids are eating healthy. She makes them eat their greens over and over again in hope they’ll have a breakthrough moment and start liking them. The actress also blends all sorts of healthy ingredients to make delicious popsicles and smoothies for her kids to enjoy.
Commitment to Clean Eating
Not being vegan isn’t stopping Jessica Alba from being healthy, and she’s pretty picky about foods she puts on the table. The Honest Company founder is trying to have as many fresh and natural ingredients in her diet as possible.
“When putting a meal together or going out to eat, try to use as much local food as possible. You can make an amazing, indulgent meal with fresh, organic produce and food… I do a delivery service where I get a box of fresh produce weekly,” Alba told Whitney E. RD.
Living in Los Angeles makes her approach to clean eating pretty effortless, because it’s easy to find fresh organic produce at any time. Alba also uses clean eating to fight inflammation, and she avoids eating gluten, dairy, fried, and processed foods.
Passionate Cook
Jessica Alba usually starts her day with a smoothie and a cup of coffee. When it comes to her lunch and dinner, the actress is making sure her meals are rich in protein, fat, fibre, and greens, since she discovered that carbs make her less energetic.
Alba is committed to eating healthy, but she’s still a huge foody, and enjoys indulging every once in a while. Popcorn is one of her favorite snacks, but she also can’t resist a slice of Red Velvet Cake and Fonuts.
Alba is a huge fan of cooking, and stir fries, pastas, and lasagna are her specialties. She’s dreaming of exploring her passion for cooking by writing a book of quick recipes in the future.
“I kind of like to cook anything depending on the weather. If I ever wrote another book, I’d want to do a cookbook. I’d love the excuse to cook for six weeks. It’d be the dream. Each meal would have to be 20 minutes; I like to cook fast,” Alba told Byrdie.
Is The Honest Company Vegan?
In addition to being an actress, Jessica Alba is also the founder of the successful wellness brand The Honest Company. This company is well-known for making safe and eco-friendly products widely available, but do they happen to be vegan, as well?
According to the brand’s official website, all their products are cruelty-free since they don’t test them on animals. The vast majority of products are also vegan, and don’t contain animal-derived ingredients, such as honey, beeswax, and lanolin, but that’s not the case with all of them.
