Kelly Ripa may be best known for her role as a talk show host, but she is also a talented dancer, actress, producer, brand ambassador, mother, wife, and skincare lover! Her signature golden dewy skin and bright eyes, paired with a pink lip, are the instantly-recognizable makeup staples of the bubbly TV personality.
While her makeup artist — Michelle Champagne — does most of the hard work using foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, and lip gloss, Kelly Ripa has a few of her own personal favorites.
The talk show host, who is a star in her own right, describes herself as a “no-makeup girl!” but that doesn’t mean she has no tried and tested makeup tricks up her sleeve. Here’s what Kelly uses to keep herself looking and feeling beautiful — not to mention camera-ready!
Her Face
Kelly uses a tinted SPF moisturizer as her foundation of choice. More specifically, the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Light Fluid SPF 60 which she describes to New York Magazine as “a light coverage, so it looks like maybe you just put on foundation, maybe you didn’t, who knows?”
The mom of three found herself in a predicament during the Covid-19 pandemic as she had no access to the makeup kit she uses for the show, but had to film remotely. So, she reached for her daughter’s self-tanner as an alternative to foundation.
Longtime makeup artist of the show and close friend, Michelle Champagne, insists on priming Kelly’s skin using the Mario Badescu Facial Spray and Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow. Using a combination of brushes, a beautyblender, and her fingers Michelle then applies a thin layer of Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation, Urban Decay’s NAKED SKIN in the shade 3.0, or Koh Gen Do’s Aqua Foundation SPF15/PA++.
For concealer, Revlon’s PhotoReady Concealer and Dermablend’s Quick Fix Concealer are the orders of the day. Sometimes the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder in the shade Warm Bronze is used for a slight chisel.
To finish off Kelly’s face, Michelle uses Mac Cosmetics’ Supercontinental Powder Blush, Three Custom Color Specialists’ Cream Blush, Koh Gen Do’s Fresh Fresh in the shade Coral Pink, or Kevin Aucoin’s Creamy Glow as a blush and also recommends using it on the lips for a natural look.
Her Eyes
For her eyes, only L’Oreal’s Voluminous Curved Brush Mascara is used and Michelle says “it has a great price point, and it works”. Kelly’s eyes are lined using the Eve Pearl liquid eyeliner
The Emani Crushed Minerals Colour Dust in the shade Safari is one of Michelle’s favorite shades to use on Kelly’s eyelids. The makeup artist is also a huge fan of Kardashian Beauty’s Double Up Eyeshadow Duo palette as well as Laura Mercier’s St Tropez palette.
Her Lips
When it comes to her lips, Kelly’s favorite is the Tom Ford Nude Vanille LipStick. But she doesn’t just stick to designer brands as she was once spotted wearing a $5 ColourPop Ripa Lippie Stix on the red carpet!
Her friend and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Lisa Rinna, gifted Kelly every shade from the Rinna Beauty collection of lip kits. It would appear as though Kelly is a fan of all of the shades and wears them often.
Make Up For Ever’s Lab Shine lip glosses, as well as the shade In The Flesh from Kardashian Beauty, are two of Michelle’s go-to lip products to use on Kelly while in the studio.
Kelly loves to gloss her lips up even more with a simple smidge of Marc Jacobs’ Coconut Lip Oil or Rose Salve balm. Inside Kelly’s handbag, you’ll find a ChapStick lip chap, Laneige lip gloss, and a Marc Jacobs makeup bag filled with her minimal makeup must-haves.
Her Skin
Before hopping in the shower, Kelly starts off her morning skincare routine with a dry brushing exercise to exfoliate her skin, stimulate her lymphatic system, and increase circulation. While in the shower, she cleans her face using Dove’s Beauty Bar before going on to use an ice-chilled jade roller to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
To keep her skin looking healthy and feeling smooth she opts for Uma Oils Absolute Anti Aging Face Oil as well as the 2 Note Renewal Facial Serum. Kelly is well aware of the power of SPF — something she wishes she had learned earlier in life — and chooses La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios Light Fluid SPF 60.
Fair routine and excellent skincare products aside, it must be noted that Kelly also has a personal dermatologist and a penchant for Botox, or “Bo” as she calls it. She is open about her fondness for cosmetic procedures and shares her stories on her Instagram page.
