Who would not want Alex Levy’s apartment if they had the money? The design, the decor, and the view are all to die for.
Alex Levy’s apartment in ‘The Morning Show’ is the penthouse at 173 Perry Street in the Manhattan neighborhood of West Village in New York. The last time this triplex was up for sale was in 2010 and the asking price was $25 million. The building complex is known as the Perry Street Towers which were designed by famous architect Richard Meier.
You can read more below about the apartment’s design, the architect who created the building, and where else ‘The Morning Show’ has been shot.
The Perry Street Towers
The building that Alex Levy’s apartment is in is part of a building complex in New York City known as the Perry Street Towers. The address is 173 and 176 Perry Street in West Village.
The two buildings were designed by the architect Richard Meiers and his firm. The buildings were completed in 2002, five years after their construction began.
There is a third building now that is identical to the Perry Street Towers at 165 Charles Street. It is a twin to the other two.
While some journalists called the Perry Street Towers ‘beauty queens,’ the famous American painter and filmmaker, Julian Schnabel, once called them ‘anonymous glass towers.’
Like many condominiums, the Perry Street Towers offer a doorman, pool, concierge, storage, fitness center, terraces and balconies, and outdoor entertainment space. While the buildings are only 16 floors high, they still offer an unobstructed view of the Hudson River.
This would explain why apartments listed for sale are selling at $6 million on the low end. Each apartment also occupies its very own floor in the building.
That of course is with the exception of the Triplex which occupies three floors and is supposed to be Alex Levy’s apartment in The Morning Show.
You can watch the below video from Apple TV+ that gives you an inside look at the making of The Morning Show.
Richard Meier the Architect
The architect who designed the Perry Street Towers is Richard Meier. Before he designed the Perry Street Towers, Meier was highly recognized for his other building designs.
He designed a building called The Antheneum which is the visitors center in New Harmony, Indiana. The High Museum of Art that is in Atlanta was also designed by Meier.
Meier has designed tons of different mansions and homes. However, he is probably most famous for his design of the Getty Center in Los Angeles.
It was his design of the Getty Center, a huge museum, that gained him mainstream recognition in the world of architecture. Other notable works include the Museum of Contemporary Art in Spain, The Hague City Hall in the Netherlands, and Meier on Rothschild in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Meier was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1984.
On the Pritzker Prize’s website, it states its goal is “To honor a living architect or architects whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision, and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.”
Despite all his success within the building world, Richard Meier was accused of sexual harassment by a total of nine women in the wake of the Me Too Movement.
Interesting that a building designed by a man accused of sexual harassment was used in a show that revolves around sexual misconduct.
Where Else Was The Morning Show Filmed?
In terms of filming locations, the principal photography was done at the James Oviatt Building in downtown Los Angeles in October of 2018.
Filming continued in Los Angeles until it was moved to New York in May of 2019. In some cases, fans of Anniston and Witherspoon were able to catch glimpses of the stars filming in the streets of New York City.
In terms of the exterior of Alex Levy’s apartment building, a Reddit User, Equation137, was able to figure out that they were of 35 W 15th Street. The entrance shots are also of this building.
This Redditor was also able to determine that the night time scenes were all shot on a constructed soundstage because the balcony of the apartment doesn’t match up with the balcony at 173 Perry Street.
