What is Johnny Depp’s favorite food? Trying to plan a meal inspired by one of the world’s most talented actors? We’ve done some research to help you with your meal planning.
Johnny Depp is a big fan of Mexican food. While he was born in Kentucky, USA and has lived in both France and Italy, he prefers south of the border cuisine like tacos, elote, enchiladas, and chilaquiles.
When it comes to what goes in the actor’s mouth, we know that one of his most well-known roles has a huge penchant for rum but do his real life taste buds prefer the same?
We’ll take a look at what a favorite dinner might include for Johnny Depp—including some of his most loved drinks and desserts.
Eat like Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp may have spent time living in both Italy and France, but his Kentucky roots have had the biggest influences on his meal choices. A self proclaimed “big advocate of fast food,” the actor credits his Southern upbringing for his food preferences.
The actor loves anything fried and enjoys fast food. He’s a big fan of KFC, Burger King, and McDonalds. His food choices are “total and utter white trash”—something he’s totally okay with.
He doesn’t really like to go out of his element when it comes to food, and when he was served sausage and mash, chicken curry, and a jacket potato while in England, he complained constantly about the food and demanded noodles instead.
While he has been known to have at least one period of veganism before his 50th birthday, Depp loves pork and claims that not only is it the best food in the world, but also that he doesn’t understand how anyone can not eat pork.
The actor also has a deep appreciation for Mexican food, and when asked, reported that that was his favorite type of food.
Like in the 2003 movie Once Upon a Time in Mexico, in which Depp’s character, CIA agent Sheldon Sands orders the same dish in every food scene, the real life Depp might do the same.
The Mexican dish, cochinita pibil, contains slow roasted pork and uses spices traditional to the Yucatan Peninsula. The meat (typically a whole suckling pig) takes on a beautiful burnt orange color before being wrapped in a banana leaf.
This combination of Johnny Depp’s two favorite things—pork and Mexican food—could probably be considered his favorite food. Good news for all you Johnny Depp fans, you can now make it yourself.
Drink like Johnny Depp
After years of filming all the Pirates of the Caribbean films has Johnny Depp become a rum fan? While he does like rum, in most cases it looks like the actor actually prefers other drinks instead.
Even though Depp’s food choices may not be the classiest, the actor does prefer finer beverages. Apparently all of his time in France has contributed to what he considers to be his favorite drinks. The actor loves fine wine, like a nice expensive French burgundy.
As far as wine goes, Depp also likes a nice Chateau Calon-Segur or Chateau Petrus. If he wanders outside of the world of wine, he might be known to sip on a tasty blueberry and ginger bourbon sour.
Eat Dessert like Johnny Depp
While Depp was allergic to chocolate in his childhood, that hasn’t stopped him in his adult years. He reportedly satisfies his sweet tooth with either cheap chocolate or sticky toffee pudding.
Eat Breakfast like Johnny Depp
If you wake up thinking of this favorite actor, you can even treat yourself to breakfast in bed while you watch one of his blockbuster movies. The actor reportedly ate eggs benedict everyday while dining at the Larder Cafe in Cape Town, South Africa.
Depp spent so much time at the cafe, reportedly eating breakfast there every morning, that the cafe decided to name their eggs benedict dish after him.
