Dogs are known for their loyalty, companionship, and absolute adorableness. For this reason and more, they are a popular pet and are acclaimed to be man’s best friend. As a matter of fact, some dogs have acquired celebrity status because they are owned by actual celebrities. Curious as to whether Brad Pitt may have transferred his celebrity status to a dog? The only way to find out is to read on and see if Brad owns a dog.
Yes. The well-known actor and father of six has dogs. Before his divorce from star actress Angelina Jolie, it was common knowledge that the family owned three dogs comprising two pugs and a bulldog called Jacques. Want to know more about Brad’s dogs and whether he has had any close interactions with dogs on set? Keep reading.
Brad’s Dogs
As stated earlier, the Jolie-Pitt family had, among its group of pets, three dogs. The dogs comprised two pugs of which little is known about and one English bulldog named Jacques. The dogs are reportedly worth 28 million dollars, according to estimates by the Celebrity Pet Worth website. The dogs have been spotted playing together and, during the pendency of Brad and Angelina’s marriage, were often walked by the couple and their kids. Of the three dogs, Jacques is the most popular and featured during interviews with the Pitt-Jolie family and was usually brought along during family vacations.
After the couple split, it wasn’t clear if Brad retained custody of the dogs. This was until he had an interview with PeopleTV earlier in the year on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet. In the interview, Brad, while taking stock of his life, stated, “I got friends, I got lovely kids, I like my coffee, I like my dogs. I’ve got no complaints”. This clearly shows that he still has the dogs despite the divorce.
We do no doubt that the dogs helped Brad in coping with the divorce. This much was revealed in a 2017 interview he had with GQ Style’s Michael Paterniti. The interview, which was conducted in Brad’s Craftsman in the Hollywood Hills home, had Jacques as the only other member of the family present in the empty apartment. The two time Golden Globe winner confirmed that his loneliness during the period was only mitigated by the bulldog’s presence. During the interview, the veteran actor and producer says to the dog, “Come here, boy. Friends for life”.
Acting With A Dog On Set
Not only is Brad fond of dogs, in reality, he has also formed bonds with dogs on the set of movies he was involved in. Most recently, on the set of the Quentin Tarantino movie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Brad had a dog buddy onset. In the movie, Brad Pitt’s character owns a pet dog named Brandy. The role of Brandy is played by Sayuri, an American pit bull from Wilmington, Delaware. You can see how well Brad and Sayuri did in the movie in the clip below.
It has been reported that the pit bull and Brad formed a bond while on set. The pet’s trainers claim that the pair were quite close on set, and this bit seems quite likely as Brad took part in some obedience training sessions with the dog on set. Maybe as a testament to their bond, both man and dog won awards for their roles — Brad got an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor while Sayuri got a Palm Dog Award at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
Brad Pitt is no doubt, a dog lover. He has them as friends and has been co-stars with a dog. This was indeed a pleasant experience for a dog lover. If you have a dog who loves you, then you share something in common with Brad Pitt.
