From detox teas to intermittent fasting, fad diets are a big part of Hollywood. Favoured by the likes of Kylie Jenner and Gwyneth Paltrow, these unusual eating habits are usually very unrealistic to average people like you and me.
As one of the most relatable celebrities in the world, how does this fair for Taylor Swift? Does the 30-year old follow a strict diet, and what is her favourite food?
Taylor Swift’s favourite food is chicken tenders. Speaking to Vogueback in 2016 as part of their ’73 Questions Answered by Your Favourite Celebs’ series, Swift clarified that if calories didn’t count she would eat chicken tenders everyday. This attests to Taylor’s approach to food in general, which she describes as “healthy […] but nothing too regimented or crazy”.
With 7 award-winning albums to her name, Taylor has traveled all around the world performing her hits. But what has she learned about food and cuisine along the way, and how does she maintain her enviable figure? Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about Taylor Swift’s diet.
Breakfast Fit For A Queen
When it comes to breakfast, Taylor is keen to start her day the right way. In an interview with Bon Appétit, Taylor was asked which six foods are always in her fridge. In prime position at the top of her list was eggs.
“I love making buckwheat crepes with ham, Parmesan cheese, and a fried egg on top. It’s my go-to breakfast.” She told the magazine.
So it’s unsurprising that the other foods on the list include: “thinly sliced ham or chicken from the deli, orange juice, diet coke, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and binge food such as cinnamon rolls”.
This fancy breakfast may seem like a lot of effort to some people, but on show days Swift’s hectic schedule means she doesn’t sit down for another meal until midnight. “It’s not good to eat late but on tour there’s dancing, and tight dresses,” she says.
PSL Devotee
After spending her childhood years on a Christmas tree farm, it’s hardly a shock that Taylor Swift LOVESall things winter-related. “Winter is my favourite season because of the food and the smells of the spices”, she told Bon Appétit. This extends to Swifts Starbucks order.
During the week Taylor tries to be mindful of her sugar intake, opting for a skinny vanilla latte. But at the weekend she allows herself to eat what she “knows from common sense is bad”, which in this case is a pumpkin spiced latte (PSL).
Chatting with WebMD Swift said: “the point is, I’m never cutting out what I love, which is Starbucks”. She’s certainly not the only person to avidly await the annual return of Starbuck’s top-selling seasonal beverage.
Taylor has also shown commitment to all things pumpkin-spiced on Tumblr. “not caring when people make fun of pumpkin-flavored stuff cause you LOVE IT and are happy it’s all the rage”, she shared.
A Budding Chef
With a net worth of $360 million, you’d probably expect Taylor Swift to have her own in-house chef. But this isn’t the case, as Swift is a keen cook.
Her love of cooking was ignited at a young age. “I’ve been my mom’s kitchen helper since I was a little kid”, she admitted.
Some of the things Taylor likes to cook include chai sugar cookies with cinnamon eggnog icing, Nashville chicken and dumplings, pasta with lemon parmesan sauce and pine nuts, and honey mustard salmon on coconut rice.
But most of all Taylor loves baking sweet treats for her friends, i.e. her infamous girl squad. In 2012 she told Bon Appétit: “I bake pumpkin bread for everyone I know and I make molasses cookies and hot chocolate and chai. It’s the most perfect time for baking for people you love”. Similarly, she also baked a cute pink birthday cake for fellow superstar Selena Gomez, which read ‘Gomez or go home’. She captioned the Instagram post “Will I let distance stop me from celebrating my best friend’s birthday?”
