She’s a master of on-screen performances and no stranger to being in front of a crowd, but can Meghan Markle count the ability to sing as part of her repertoire?
Meghan Markle can indeed sing. She’s a performer in more than one sense of the word, and has been singing since a young age – in high school, to be precise. She’s in no way shy when on stage and is a natural master when it comes to singing a tune or two.

Performing Prodigy
Meghan Markle began her foray into acting from a young age, landing small parts in television shows from around the age of twenty, but it was many years prior that Meghan was actually exposed to the world of Hollywood. Her father, Thomas Markle, had worked in show business for years, but behind the curtain as an award winning lighting director.
Yes, that’s right – the lighting director expert had won an Emmy way back in 1982 for his work on General Hospital, an American daytime television series. He would regularly bring Meghan to the set with him, to give her an insight into his world, but in reality it was shaping the passion and future of the young girl, only eleven years old at the time. In fact, Markle explained in an interview that she spent ‘every day after school for ten years’ on television sets – that would certainly shape any future.
Once this impact had well and truly landed on Markle, it became her pursuit – slow at first, but blossoming into her choice for career. While she didn’t start exceptionally young, there were instances in her teenage years where she took the opportunity to flaunt her performing abilities, such as when she was seventeen years old and took to the stage to give a rendition of ‘Santa Baby’ with her friend.
In this video, you can see that Meghan Markle is totally at home on stage and exudes confidence – as well as displaying a fantastic singing ability.
Path Erased, But Traces Remained
Meghan Markle followed a rather successful acting career for almost twenty years, until marrying British Royal Prince Harry and hanging up her acting cape to pursue humanitarian and philanthropic endeavours. She had a rather long stint on the American television show, Suits, in which she was a pivotal part of the show’s success, serving an enormous seven seasons on the show.
While she has officially stopped acting, Meghan Markle doesn’t resist any opportunity to flex her old skills, singing included. In late-2018, Markle and her husband Harry attended a London performance of the world famous musical, Hamilton. While here, she mingled with the producers and creators of the show, and wowed them with not only her knowledge of the show’s setlist, but also her ability to sing the songs within.
On a smaller scale (but reflecting her people-pleaser side), Meghan underwent an engagement at Brinsworth House in the United Kingdom, a residential home for retired and aging entertainment and show business professionals. While here, she took the opportunity to engage in various activities, one of which was singing christmas carols, leading a group of people with her already-brilliant voice.
The Potential Return
In 2019 and 2020 a reality television show aired called The Masked Singer, on which various celebrities would appear completely in disguise, singing away on stage. It was a complete secret who they were, as not even the showrunners knew who was behind the masked personas.
There was a character called The Queen Bee, and many fans of the show speculated this was Meghan Markle, working in some effort to reignite her old career in show business after stepping away from the Royal limelight for a while. In actual fact, Queen Bee turned out to be a singer called Nicola Roberts, and not the Duchess of Sussex, as some had thought.
