Entertainment Success
Gomez is a triple threat in the entertainment industry, as she has an exceptional voice and outstanding dance moves, and acting talent to boot. Dancing has always been a part of her skillset, from her time on Barney & Friends to her concert tours.
While her acting career has been less successful than her singing career, dancing has been a part of that as well in many of her roles. So what are some examples of Gomez dancing?
In 2016, Gomez showed off her salsa dancing moves on Instagram with this post, captioning the video, “When my babies take me salsa dancing even when they told me not to because I’m sick… I don’t care.”
Sick or not, Gomez’s salsa dancing skill was celebrated by thousands of fans praising her in the comments after watching the video. Luckily, some other fans took the time to put together this long Twitter thread of Gomez dancing in many of her performances, featuring her dancing highlights from a variety of her concerts.
Her emphasis on dancing was solidified with her performance on Dancing With The Stars in 2013, and again with the 2020 release of the music video for one of her latest songs, Dance Again. “I kick start the rhythm / All the drama’s in remission / No I don’t need permission / Feels so, feels so, feels so good to dance again,” are just a few of the lyrics of Gomez’s more recent hit.

Gomez’s Entertainment Background
Today, Gomez is one of the world’s biggest stars, but how did her rise to fame begin? It’s safe to say that Gomez was introduced to the entertainment industry at birth, since her mother is a former stage actress and named Gomez after Selena Quintanilla, one of the most influential Latin artists of all time, also known as the Queen of Tejano music.
Gomez’s mother had her at sixteen years old, and Gomez’s parents split up when she was just five years old. In a 2017 interview, Gomez talked about how she looks up to her mother, saying, “Having me at sixteen had to have been a big responsibility. My mom gave up everything for me and had, like, three jobs. She supported me, sacrificed her life for me.”
That sacrifice paid off, with where Gomez is today. She got her start on Barney & Friends at seven years old, after becoming interested in acting through watching her mother in stage productions.
She attributed everything she learned about acting to her time Barney & Friends when she was young. After going on to appear in various Disney Channel series, she auditioned for Wizards of Waverly Place and got the lead character of Alex Russo, so she and her mother moved to Hollywood.
The show quickly became a success, receiving a lot of media attention as well as awards, bringing her further into the spotlight. She soon started recording songs as well, eventually signing with Hollywood Records at sixteen years old.
Both her acting and her musical career grew from there, undaunted by her transition from a Disney star to her own path, allowing her to create whatever types of music she wants and take any role that interests her, and she has reached amazing levels of success.
