Outside of the glitz and glamour of reality show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, what was foundational member Kyle Richard’s life like before she found her calling as a foundational member of the shows cast.
Kyle Richards did not go to college. As a child actress, much of her youth and teenage years were spent on movie and television sets, rather than pursuing a college degree.
Kyle Richards clearly never felt the need to go for a college degree, having already managed to carve out a path for herself a long time prior to the age that most people could be considering future career choices.
Child Actress
If you only know her from her position as a recurring main feature of RHOBH and are wondering what her life was like outside of appearing on televisions all across the country, then you might be surprised to know that her life has always involved some element of the theatrical.
Instead of going on a road that may potentially take her on the well-trodden path of college, starting from an incredibly young age, Richards was swept into a world of bright lights and showbusiness, straight into the much-beloved Little House on the Prairie.
If there are any fans out there of American Midwest period drama, you might remember Alicia Edwards, the troubled, adopted daughter of Grace and Isaiah Edwards. Alicia was played by none other than Kyle Richards.
Even Richards’ sister Kim had a role in the series!
Richards apparently had a knack for landing herself roles in cult-classics, as just a few years later after getting her role on Little House on the Prairie, she was in the unfortunate position of being hunted by Michael Myers in Halloween, a film that went on to spawn a generation of slasher flicks.
Following in Their Mothers Footsteps
Even though Richards never attended college, she still must have felt like it was a good opportunity for her daughters.
All of her daughters so far have gone on to further education in some form, whether it be college or university, such as her daughter Farrah who graduated from the University of Southern California.
Despite being exposed to a “rich and famous” lifestyle, Richards’ family seems to stay fairly down to earth. Perhaps that’s no surprise, seeing as she has specifically stated that she doesn’t think her daughters should get involved in reality TV.
Though she didn’t go herself, it’s clear that Richards approves of the fact that her daughters are choosing their own path, whether that be college or otherwise. Though none of them have followed in their mother’s footsteps, they seem to have a fair amount of admiration for their mother’s ability to juggle her celebrity lifestyle with her family life.
The Other Housewives
Of all the other housewives, do any of them have degrees?
Out of the recurring stars, it seems that Dorit Kemsley is the one brandishing the heaviest qualification, with a degree from Quinnipiac University. Her degree is a bachelor’s in marketing, design, and communication.
She put those skills to good use in Italy, where she worked for a swimwear company. The combination of the degree and the job that she worked makes it no mystery that she’s interested in fashion, a statement that she as reiterated on a number of occasions.
Kemsley is probably the most academic out of all the housewives that make a regular appearance. The path that Richards followed appears to have been by and large the more popular option for all the shows stars.
Seems fitting that the type of personalities to shine the brightest on a reality TV show were to be the ones that were also the most attracted to the more dramatic side of life. Almost all of the reality stars have been in the spotlight one way or another.
Lisa Vanderpump was a drama student, even though she would eventually choose a different route. Lisa Rinna was not only an actor but also managed to get herself a few choice roles like Richards, starring in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place.
A lot of them spent time modeling, too. Not acting, perhaps, but still a line of work where a certain level of confidence and charisma is expected of you from the many eyes that will be focusing on your stage.
