Even after being a Hollywood star for more than two decades, Ashton Kutcher continues to surprise his fans with his off-screen ventures. Do these surprises also include the ability to speak Spanish?
There is no evidence to support Ashton Kutcher being able to speak Spanish. The only notable example of him using the language is during a video he uploaded of himself and his wife, Mila Kunis, singing a children’s song, “La Vaca Lola”, in Spanish. He also claims that his daughter, Wyatt, has been able to understand and speak Spanish from an early age. Kutcher, along with his children, is learning to speak Russian, Mila’s mother tongue.

Singing Spanish
There’s little reason to think that Ashton Kutcher might be able to speak Spanish extensively, or any language other than English. While we have seen him speaking French briefly in his 2010 film “Killers”, there are no such examples of him speaking in Spanish.
While Kutcher might not be able to speak Spanish, we do have evidence of him singing in Spanish. In July 2019, Kutcher uploaded a video to Instagram of he and his wife, Mila Kunis, singing “La Vaca Lola”, a Spanish-language nursery rhyme.
Ashton begins the song alone before Mila enters the frame and joins in, happily singing together in their kitchen. One of the couple’s children can also be heard in the background, either daughter Wyatt or son Dimitri. It’s likely Wyatt, given that she is a couple of years older.
Wyatt’s familiarity with Spanish apparently goes beyond being able to sound along to a nursery rhyme. During an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, Kutcher revealed that his daughter, in addition to being able to speak English and understand Russian, can also speak Spanish.
Based on Ashton and Mila singing “La Vaca Lola” together, it seems likely that at least one of their children has probably been watching Spanish-language kids’ TV.
In any case, the video is a heartwarming glimpse into the shared domestic life of the couple that first met on “That ’70s Show”, more than 20 years ago. We probably can’t, however, take it as any sort of proof that Kutcher can speak Spanish.
Learning Russian
Whether or not Kutcher can speak Spanish, it does seem as though he must have a growing familiarity with Russian.
His wife, Mila Kunis, was born on August 14, 1983, in what was then Soviet Ukraine. Kunis comes from a Jewish family and her family had to keep their faith a secret to avoid persecution, eventually emigrating to the US when she was seven years old.
Russian is Mila’s first language and, despite her family’s struggles in Eastern Europe, she is proud of her heritage. She is keen that this should be passed down to her and Ashton’s children, so she has spoken to them in Russian frequently since they were born.
Although he might not pick up the language as easily as his young children, Kutcher has also started learning Russian. In an interview, Mila revealed that he had been taking private lessons twice each week, in the hope of sharing a truly bilingual household.
So, while Ashton Kutcher might not be able to speak Spanish, the language clearly plays a part in his family life, even if it’s in something as simple as a nursery rhyme. If he is going to learn how to speak a foreign language, however, it seems far likelier that it will be Russian.
