There is nothing quite like getting a response from your favorite celeb(s) when you DM them. It’s not really worth it to send a DM though if they don’t respond, so does BTS respond to DMs?
BTS does not reply to DMs on social media. The group was more interactive with fans via social media when they were not as well known. Nowadays, if fans want to interact with the group they have to do so via the Korean app Weverse made for celeb-to-fan communication.
Scroll down to read more about some of the things that BTS has done with their fans on Weverse and why they don’t respond to DMs on other platforms.
BTS & ARMY on Weverse
If you weren’t aware of this already, BTS has a name for their massive fan group. The name that those die-hard BTS fans go by is ARMY.
It’s not uncommon for fan groups to have a name either. Remember those die-hard Twilight fans were Twihards, Justin Bieber has his Beliebers, and Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters?
BTS’s ARMY is actually a name similar to what Rihanna’s fans call themselves. They are known as the Rihanna Navy.
While BTS doesn’t respond to their DMs, they aren’t shy about interacting with their fanbase. They just do it differently from how celebs do on Western social media.
BTS uses the Korean app Weverse to communicate with all of their fans directly. This is like a lot of other K-Pop groups who have also chosen to use this platform as the main way that they communicate with their fans, and BTS has done some really sweet things.
On the app, BTS fans can communicate with each other as well as with BTS and the group members often comment on their fan’s posts. A great example of this was in 2019 when V went on Weverse to talk with fans when he couldn’t sleep.
After he commented on some of the fan’s posts saying they couldn’t sleep, he started to give out relationship advice. He told one fan that if they want to make up with a friend they fought with they should try to.
V told another fan that he was happy that BTS was able to make them enjoy interacting with other people more. He also got vulnerable and shared that he felt that fame had made him hesitant to make new friends because people only see him as V now and not Kim Tae-Hyung.
You can watch the below YouTube video from Kookies and Kream to watch some of the cutest and funniest interactions BTS members have had with their fans. They really care about making their fans smile and have a good time.
In March 2020, Jin, V, and Suga were frequenting the app and commenting on fan’s posts to stay in touch during lockdowns. They told fans that they were all sad too with what was happening and hoped that they would be able to have concerts again soon too.
V seems to be the most active member on Weverse. He has even posted pictures to the app for fans when one asked for photos that were 70% background and 30% person. Even though most think Jimin is the sweetest member of the group, we think V is giving him a run for his money with his kind actions.
Why BTS Doesn’t Reply to DMs
With an app like Weverse to interact with their fans on, it makes sense that they would ditch all other methods of communicating with their fans online. However, it could be a little more complex than that.
A lot of celebrities don’t reply to DMs because they can end up causing them a lot of trouble. First of all, there is always the concern that someone could turn into a stalker. When you’re as famous as BTS with so many people idolizing you, it can be a big concern.
However, it is more likely because their label Bighit Entertainment owns Weverse. It is likely written into their contracts that they are only allowed to interact with fans online via Weverse.
After all, many fans have pointed out that the group members used to interact with their fans via Twitter back in the day. Now though, if you want to try and interact with BTS online you’ll have to get Weverse. And, if you don’t speak Korean it is not likely that you will get a response from any of the members.
