When you’re at the upper echelons of stardom like singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, you can’t just hop on a commercial flight when you fancy a vacation. So how does the 30-year-old travel from country to country?
Taylor Swift owns two Dassault private jets, the Falcon 900 and the Falcon 50. Taylor likely chose Dassault’s because of their third engine, which adds an additional layer of safety to long-haul flights. In recent months, Taylor has been seen using the jet to travel between her New York home and London, where her boyfriend Joe Alwyn lives.
With a net worth of $360 million, Taylor is certainly enjoying the fruits of her labor. Keep reading to find out if Swifts jets are just as fancy on the inside as they are on the outside, and whether they get her friend’s seal of approval.
Pimp My Ride
Taylor purchased her first jet, the Dassault Falcon 900, in 2011. It’s reportedly worth around $58 million and can accommodate up to 12 people. The second jet, a Falcon 50, was added to her collection around a year later and seats 9 people. Sources claim that Taylor had been lusting after a jet of her own since 2010, when she was dating Jake Gyllenhaal.
During their relationship the Nightcrawleractor splurged $100,000 on a private jet to fly her to the UK so they could spend a few hours together amid their hectic schedules. Taylor later referenced the incident in her hit multi-award-winning hit “I Knew You Were Trouble” with the line “flew me to places I’d never been”.
Eventually, Taylor got what she wanted, plus a little bit more, as her aircraft is also fully customised. Painted on the nose of the jet is the number 13, Swift’s lucky number. Speaking to MTV about the significance of the number, she said:
“I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first #1 song had a 13-second intro”.

In addition to this, the plane also has a custom registration plate, ‘N898TS’. 89 is a reference to the year Taylor was born, as well as her fifth studio album. ‘TS’, whereas, are her initials.
Inside the private jet is equally as luxurious. According to OMI, most famous for his hit song Cheerleader, the jet is very comfortable and has a good ambiance. OMI joined Taylor for the San Diego date of her sold-out 1989 tour. He then got a lift from the venue to the MTV Video Music Awards, which both parties were attending. Describing the interior to Newsbeat, OMI declares “wooden finish, leather, the whole works”.
The Seal of Approval
Since 2011, Taylor’s private jet has hosted many of her infamous BFFs. After performing with Swift in Toronto on the 1989 tour, Charli XCX was invited to hop on the jet. The Boom Clap singer said:
“Everything was customised, apart from, there were like tampons in the toilet, which yes I took a couple of them, because I needed them. But unfortunately they weren’t customised.”
Aside from this, Taylor is known to use the plane to help a friend in need. After the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, Taylor reportedly lent one of her jets to Ariana Grande so she could fly safely back to the U.S from the UK. The aircraft was chosen because it was under active security and accustomed to VIP, at-risk use.
The craft no doubt also helps Swift to maintain her long-distance relationship with Joe Alwyn. The pair have been spotted boarding the plane together after vacationing in Rhode Island.
Final Words
As a multi-millionaire, Taylor is certainly not living beyond her means by owning two private jets. She’s been touring the world for over 15 years, so sooner or later she was bound to upgrade her means of travel. Strangely enough, Taylors jet can be seen in the music video for ‘Look What You Made Me Do’, where she can be seen sawing one of the wings off.
