Harry Styles won numerous awards in One Direction and as a solo singer. Has the world-renowned star ever won a prestigious Grammy award?
Harry Styles hasn’t won a Grammy yet. He has never been nominated, but may be on track to win a Grammy in the near future.
Harry definitely sees the Grammys as a major goal, and his name has been tossed around in conversations about the Grammy awards more than once.
Harry Was Disappointed When One Direction Missed a Grammy Nomination
In 2014, Harry Styles’ band One Direction released their chart-topping album “Four.” The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Although the album did exceedingly well, it did not earn the boys a Grammy. When asked about their lack of a nomination, Harry sarcastically said “thanks a lot” to the interviewer for reminding him of their loss.
Harry followed the remark with a more serious answer. He acknowledged that there were a lot of outstanding nominations that year, and he did not feel bad about being left out from the list.
Harry also did not worry about One Direction’s lack of a Grammy because the band won many other awards. He realized that they won titles that other artists did not, so he was not too hurt by missing a Grammy nomination.
One Direction Broke Records and Made History, Even Without a Grammy
Even though they did not obtain a Grammy nomination, Harry’s band One Direction did exceedingly well. Their worldwide success earned them a permanent place in history.
One Direction broke six Guinness World Records during their six years as a band. Their musical accolades include being the first U.K. group to debut at No. 1 in the U.S. with their first four albums.
One Direction also gained recognition for their strong fanbase. The band won numerous awards for having such dedicated fans, including MTV Europe Music Awards’ Biggest Fan award from 2012 to 2014 and the Radio Disney Music Awards’ Fiercest Fan award every year from 2013 to 2016.
One Direction not only had the fiercest fans, but boasted a record-shattering fanbase due to its sheer size. The band broke the record for most Twitter followers for a music group as well as the most YouTube subscribers for a band.
Harry Received Numerous Awards As a Solo Singer
After One Direction announced their hiatus in 2016, Harry Styles continued his music career as a solo act. He moved on to successfully win many awards, including some of the same titles he previously won with the band.
Harry won the 2018 Brit Awards’ British Artist Video of the Year award with “A Sign of the Times.” One Direction previously won the same award in 2015 for “You & I,” 2016 for “Drag Me Down,” and 2017 for “History.”
Harry also received a few nominations as an actor since parting ways with One Direction. He was nominated for the National Film Awards U.K. Best Breakthrough Performance and Best Newcomer, as well as Teen Choice Awards Choice Breakout Movie Star and Choice Summer Movie Actor. Although he did not win, these nominations could mark the start of a successful acting career to follow.
Harry Was Possibly Mocked at the 2013 Grammys
Harry did not win a Grammy in 2013 and was not even at the awards show. However, he was one of the hot topics of gossip for viewers who caught a quick jab possibly meant to insult him.
Taylor Swift had recently broken up with Harry when she appeared at the 2013 Grammys. In her performance of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” she purposely adopted a British accent while portraying the voice of an ex-boyfriend calling her on the phone.
Fans and gossip sites were quick to take to the internet and point out the timing of her jab, right after the pair suffered a breakup. Many assume that this was a thinly veiled joke about Harry.
Harry Is Poised to Win in the Near Future
Although Harry’s first solo album, Harry Styles, did not earn any Grammy nominations, many fans predict his 2019 album, Fine Line, will score a win. Harry’s album certainly earned the attention of the Recording Academy since they published an article about its massive success.
With his impressive talent and a continuous stream of top hits, Harry is sure to continue making award-winning music. It is only a matter of time before his work earns him a Grammy.
