Ariana Grande recorded hit singles with several famous lefties, but is she also one of them?
Ariana Grande isn’t left-handed. The Grammy-winning singer confirmed that she’s right-handed on Twitter, but it’s been rumored that she prefers being photographed from her left side.
Ariana Grande’s “Good Side”
It’s not difficult to find evidence of Ariana Grande’s right-handedness. Back in 2010, the famous singer confirmed that she’s a righty in one of her tweets, and there are countless photos online that show her signing autographs with her right hand.
Grande may not be a southpaw, but it’s rumored that she only likes showing the left side of her face in photographs. Back in 2014, she reportedly stormed out of a photoshoot in Sydney after photographers failed to meet her long list of demands.
The “7 Rings” singer asked them to avoid using “natural light” and only shoot from her left side. She’s been accused of diva behavior after the news hit the fan, and this wasn’t even the only time people called her “difficult” to work with.
Grande later admitted that she avoided doing interviews for a long time because her words were often twisted and taken out of context, and felt that sexism had something to do with that.
“When men express their opinions, or defend themselves, or are directing something and making notes on something, they’re brilliant, and they’re. And yet, it’s just so not the same thing with women, which I hope we can work on fixing,” she told Zane Lowe.
A study from 2012 suggested that photos taken from the left side are usually perceived as more pleasant. Ariana Grande seems to agree, but she’s taken countless photos that showcase her right side since the fiasco in Sydney and looked flawless in all of them.
Left Hand Tattoos
Ariana Grande is a huge fan of tiny, delicate tattoos and her collection is constantly expanding. Business Insider reported that she has a total of 51 tattoos in May 2020, and this number is probably only going to go up.
Many of her tattoos are located on her left hand, and some of them created a lot of buzz. The misspelled “7 Rings” tattoo on her left palm is the most notable example. It spelled the name of a small grill in Japanese and Grande received a lot of backlash for this mistake.
Tattoo artist Mira Mariah is the mastermind behind most of Grande’s body art, including crescent moon and stars on her left hand. She got this tattoo as a way of celebrating being named Billboard’s 2018 Woman of the Year.
Many of Grande’s tattoos are difficult to trace because she ended up covering them up. She inked the name of her ex Pete Davidson on her left-hand ring finger and replaced it with a black heart after their breakup.
They also got matching cloud tattoos on their left-hand middle fingers, but she decided to keep that one. She also paid homage to her home town Boca Raton, Florida by tattooing its area code 561 on her left thumb.
Her left-hand fingers feature a few more tiny tattoos, including a plant design on her pinky. Grande also has an adorable ink of her favorite Pokémon Eevee on her left arm.
Left-Handed Collaborators
Ariana Grande isn’t a southpaw, but some of her A-list collaborators managed to become pop stars and learned to play several instruments despite being left-handed.
Back in 2013, Grande joined Justin Bieber during several shows on his Believe Tour, and they went on to release the chart-topping benefit single “Stuck with U” in 2020. Bieber is one of the most popular lefties of his generation and often writes music on a special left-handed guitar.Miley Cyrus, who recorded Charlie’s Angels theme song “Don’t Call Me Angel” with Grande and Lana Del Rey, is also left-handed but plays a right-handed guitar. So does Lady Gaga, who recorded the upbeat track “Rain on Me” with Grande, which became the first female collaboration to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
