Jennifer Garner is a celebrated American actress, but does she eat a plant-based diet?
Jennifer Garner is not vegan or vegetarian. When asked about her Thanksgiving plans the star once remarked, “Well, I’m not gonna eat our chickens. But I will say… I do feel a little bad. I’m not a vegetarian. We will make a big turkey.”
Let’s explore the healthy life and diet of the 13 Going on 30 actress.
How does Jennifer Garner keep fit?
Jennifer has worked with celebrity fitness trainer Simone De La Rue for years. The personal trainer commented, “She trains four to five days a week, when she’s not prepping for a movie.”
She continued, “We’ll do something that’s traditional strength training, and the next minute we’ll be dancing to build agility and core strength. I really mix it up, and we’re never doing one thing. She does everything, which is incredible!”
When Jennifer was prepping for Peppermint in 2018, she needed to get extra strong for the role—she plays a mom who seeks revenge on her husband and daughter’s killers.
De La Rue reported that Jennfer worked out six days a week, for three months, in order to get ready for the role. The trainer said, “We worked on lifting heavier weights, usually around 15 pounds.”
“We also did a lot of bodyweight work, and supplemented with my custom resistance bands,” she continued. The personal trainer focused Jennifer on tricep extensions with weights and the resistance band, as well as triceps dips.

What is Jennifer Garner’s diet like?
Along with a top personal trainer, Jennifer has also been working with nutritionist Kelly LeVeque. LeVeque has a diet plan called “Be Well by Kelly Diet,” which Jennifer used to get in shape for her role in Peppermint.
When asked about the diet, Jennifer remarked, “I actually have really liked the diet, so I’ve stuck on it [after filming].”
Jennifer shared a super healthy looking smoothie recipe from the dietician on Instagram. Take a look yourself, and see if you’re willing to try:
To help maintain her diet, Jennifer has her own garden at home where she grows fruit and vegetables. However, even though the star loves to keep fit and healthy, she also loves baking and more “unhealthy” treats too.
Jennifer often posts to Instagram with the hashtag #PretendCookingShow, where she posts recipes for her fans. Check out this recipe for biscotti:
Jennifer and Famous Friends
On top of her unhealthy treats, Jennifer was even seen tucking into a burger at In-N-Out with her friend and cooking show host Ina Garten AKA Barefoot Contessa.
The pair filmed a Thanksgiving special on Ina Garten’s show in 2018. Before then, Jennifer had tried and failed to collaborate with Garten.
Jennifer told W Magazine, “I tried to get on Ina’s show. I tried to use my, well, you know… I say, use what you have to make the world better for yourself!”
But she was initially rebuffed by Garner, with Jenffier saying, “Eventually she just said, ‘I’m sorry, I only use my real friends on the show.’ I felt like, ‘What are you saying? That we’re not friends? I know everything about you!’”
But eventually the pair met and hit it off. Garner told people in 2018, “Somewhere along the line I found out that she liked my cookbooks and my TV show, so I asked if we could cook together.”
She continued, “She was very sweet. She invited me to her birthday party. It was all girls in swimsuits—it was so Jennifer! It was so fun and not fancy, which is what she’s like.”
What does Jennifer Garner do for vegans?
Despite not being a vegan herself, Jennifer has made a foray into the plant-based world and is the cofounder of vegan baby food company—Once Upon a Farm.
Once Upon a Farm makes vegan, organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, BPA-free, kosher products for little ones.
