The popularity of veganism may be on the rise, but is Kevin Bacon getting in on the action too or is he sticking by his namesake meat?
Kevin Bacon is not thought to be vegan, although he does enjoy plant-based meals with his wife Kyra Sedgwick. The couple have been known to dine at vegan restaurants and claim their signature dish is a kale salad.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick
The actor and musician Kevin Bacon and his wife, actress Kyra Sedgwick, have been married since 1988 after meeting on the set of the television film Lemon Sky. The pair have since starred in a number of films together, including Pyrates, Murder in the First, The Woodsman and Loverboy.
Watch Sedgwick talk about how Bacon first asked her out in the below YouTube video.
Bacon and Sedgwick live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and have two children; actor and composer Travis Sedgwick Bacon and actress Sosie Ruth Bacon. Both children starred alongside their parents in the film Loverboy when they were younger.
Bacon and Sedgwick are well-known activists, having campaigned for climate change awareness for many years and more recently moving into political activism. In 2007, Bacon set up his own charitable foundation, SixDegrees.org, which raises money for grassroots charities in the United States.
In 2011, Bacon and Sedgwick appeared on the TV show Finding Your Roots, where they learned that, remarkably, they are ninth cousins, once removed.
Veganism in the Bacon household
Although Kevin Bacon does not appear to be vegan, he and his wife have been seen dining at a number of vegan establishments in New York. On Valentine’s Day 2013, they visited Peacefood Cafe, with Bacon tweeting “VDay Vegan lunch with my love” to mark the occasion.
Bacon and Sedgwick have also been spotted visiting Stogo, a vegan ice cream parlor in New York run by Sedgwick’s brother, Rob.
In an interview with The Studio Exec, Bacon claimed to have been vegetarian for many years, stating he made the decision to go meat-free for both ethical and environmental reasons. This would make sense given his continued climate change activism over the years, with the UN encouraging plant-based diets as a way to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
However, in a separate interview with New York magazine, Bacon revealed that he isn’t in fact vegetarian, although the signature dish he likes to cook with his wife is a vegan favorite, the kale salad. Kevin even toyed with the idea of changing his name to Kevin Kale in the same interview with The Studio Exec.
In an interview with Bon Appétit, he shared that his favorite sandwich is a BLT, which he described as “the ultimate comfort food”. He also disclosed that he likes to cook fish tacos and chicken to impress his friends.
As if this wasn’t enough evidence against Bacon being vegan, he has previously acted as a spokesperson for the American Egg Board, endorsing both eggs and bacon with the line “Because nobody knows eggs better than Bacon”.
Bacon’s wife appears to enjoy non-vegan dishes too, having told The New Potato that her ideal dinner would be “pasta with olives, capers, tuna, sundried tomatoes and kale”.
Does Kevin eat Bacon?
Kevin Bacon has claimed to be vegetarian in the past and enjoys eating vegan dishes such as kale salads, as well as dining at vegan restaurants. However, it is thought that neither Bacon nor his wife Kyra Sedgwick are in fact vegan, with both having expressed their love for non-vegan foods.
All in all, despite enjoying the odd vegan dish, it looks like Kevin Bacon does indeed live up to his namesake and indulges in a good bacon sandwich from time to time.
