Religion is often a sensitive, highly personal topic. It serves as guidance to our daily thoughts and actions, resulting in the lifestyle choices we make and live by, in an effort to live a more meaningful life.
Megan Fox is not a Scientologist. She was raised in the Catholic Church and no longer is a practicing member of the Church, however, she is still a practicing Christian.
While Megan Fox herself admits that it is a surprise for herself–someone who has made herself famous partially through a seductive stage presence–to be so “domestic,” she continues to live by the generalized values that she was raised on…even in the blinding lights of Hollywood.
Growing Up as Megan Fox
Megan Fox was born in a small, rural town called Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and raised in a nearby town. It is partially a mountain town, and barely holds a spot on the map compared to her current life in Hollywood.
However, these experiences that we have as we grow up largely shape us into who we become. In this regard, Megan Fox’s experiences as a child are no different than the rest of us.
Megan Fox was raised Catholic, but more specifically, she went to a Pentacostal church. These churches are known for being “intense,” as Fox describes.
In a recent interview with Insider, Fox described the church she grew up attending when she said, “The energy is so intense in the room that you feel like anything can happen. I have seen magical, crazy things happen. I’ve seen people be healed. Even now, in the church I go to, during Praise and Worship I could feel that I was maybe getting ready to speak in tongues, and I’d have to shut it off because I don’t know what that church would do if I started screaming out in tongues in the back.
That’s right, Megan Fox claims she can speak in tongues. She first began doing this when she was eight years old at her family’s church in Tennessee.
She describes it as, “a lot of energy coming through the top of your head.”
It is a unique, powerful experience to say the least.
Since then, Fox has stepped away from her roots in the Pentacostal church. However, she still attends a Christian church faithfully.
She describes the church she now attends as a non-denominational Christian church that is young, passionate, and accepting–all aspects that she highly values in a community. It is not judgmental, and welcomes anyone who cares to enter.
As someone who admittedly struggles with her own mental health concerns, Fox claims that she feels safest in God’s control, and this church is a place where she is free to enter as she is and worship accordingly.
She raises her family in the same way. You can see a picture of them together on Halloween, using the Instagram link below.
Religion Turns Politics
With Fox’s rural upbringing, some of her traditional values have remained with her throughout her life.
For instance, she does not like to party or drink excessively, as many do in Hollywood, because she does not like the lack of control.
She may seem traditional in some aspects, but she also draws a fine line. Fox’s main political views are to avoid those who are “too conservative” to the point of being exclusive, in her opinion.
Overall, Fox supports and respects all people, no matter what religion, race, or sexual orientation they may be.
