It’s safe to say that Simon Cowell has a lot of money. He is mostly known for being a judge on various talent competitions shows, but he also owns a production company and is a well-known music mogul, creating such acts as One Direction. Is Simon Cowell a billionaire?
Simon Cowell is estimated to be worth around $600 million, and while not a billionaire, he’s sitting comfortably with the money he has. With a current annual salary of $95 million, it looks like he’ll become a billionaire before he retires.
Even at $600 million, it’s a lot of money and hard to comprehend exactly how much it is. At the rate Cowell is going, he will surpass the billionaire status in the next few years. His brother Nicholas makes a lot of money as well, but states it’s no competition, Simon is definitely making more.
World’s Billionaires
Each year Forbes posts an annual Billionaires List, in March of each year. In 2020, the deadline for the list occurred shortly after the outbreak of Covid-19 created a global lockdown, and the billionaires were feeling it.
This number of overall billionaires in 2020 is 2,095, which is down 58 from the last year’s list. But the real kicker is that on March 6th of 2020, there were 2,121 billionaires, which was 12 days before the Forbes deadline of March 18th.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos tops the list as the world’s wealthiest person for the third year in a row. Pretty impressive since in the past 12 months he’s had to hand over $36 billion to his now ex-wife.
Leading the way for the richest women is Alice Walton, the heir to the Walmart franchise, who is ninth on the list. A pig breeder made the biggest jump this year from last years list. In the past year, he made $14.2 billion for a total of $18.5 billion, which lands him in the 43rd spot.
The Media and Entertainment industry make up a large portion of the Forbes list, with Media Mogul Michael Bloomberg at the top of the category, and number 16 overall with a net worth of $48 billion.
At the bottom of the entertainment list, and tied at number 1990 with several others, is rapper Jay-Z sitting with $1 billion, which is not too shabby. I have a feeling his wife will surpass him in the coming years.
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous
Not only is it the title of a song and television show, but it’s an everyday occurrence for some people. Imagine paying for plane tickets for 80 hawks, or $250 million for a condo in New York City.
It’s safe to say that the ultra-rich don’t live like the rest of us do. The lives of the rich have been fascinating to those who aren’t, for as long as there have been different societal classes.
The number of the world’s wealthy people continues to grow, as does our curiosity and fascination for them. The United States is the country with the most billionaires, followed by China and Germany. This does not take into consideration royal families, such as Sheikhs from the United Arab Emirates.
If Simon Cowell becomes a billionaire, he could break the tie between the United Kingdom and Brazil who are sitting at number 7 in the world with the most billionaires.
Not only does Simon Cowell make about $95 million a year, but he knows how to invest well. His brother, who is a real estate mogul in London, has taught him about investing his money, ensuring that he will be able to keep a hold of his riches, rather than blowing all of it.
We’re sure that Cowell’s six-year-old son, Eric, is pretty spoiled by dad. Even still, there will be plenty of money left for him in the years to come, even if Cowell retires today.
