At eighteen years of age, Billie Eilish’s net worth was approximately six million dollars, but was she poor before she found fame?
Billie Eilish was never poor in a general sense, but there were instances in her childhood where her family couldn’t afford certain things, such as horse-riding lessons. However, since her mid-teens, Eilish has had more money than she knows how to spend.

Silver Spoon To Ocean Eyes
Billie Eilish didn’t have a typical upbringing, that’s for certain. Her family raised her in the depths of Los Angeles, an inherently expensive location to live.
Although their home was small, it was in a preferential neighborhood and was well-furnished. Billie’s parents had already seen their fair share of fame, working as actors and singer-songwriters
In this YouTube video, you can get a glimpse inside the room of the house where Billie Eilish worked on her first songs.
Her parents opted to homeschool their children, both Billie and her brother, Finneas O’Connell. This education proved to be successful, with Eilish passing her high school equivalency exam at fifteen years of age.
As they grew up, the home was packed with musical instruments and other artistic means to express themselves, such as through art or photography.
In fact, the only memory that Eilish has recalled (on record) of any struggle is the inability of her family to pay for horse riding lessons when she was young.
She combatted this lack of funding by working at a nearby stable, but claims she quit the job as other, ‘richer’ staff looked down at her for being the ‘poor girl’.
However, things certainly changed and the tables turned when Eilish and her brother wrote and released (totally independently) her first track, Ocean Eyes.
When she was fifteen, this track was released on Soundcloud, to an incredible response. From that day forward, the success came in at a dizzying rate, leaving Eilish with an exorbitant amount of funds for her young age.
Getting What She Wanted
In an interview, Eilish confirmed that she never wanted a normal life. Since a young age, she’d been eager to follow a path far away from what was considered ‘normal’.
It seems she was always interested in seeking fame and fortune, participating in activities such as choir singing, dance, music production and song-writing.
The collaboration with her brother Finneas is what ultimately accelerated her into the public eye, as they worked together on Ocean Eyes and songs beyond that.
The life that Billie Eilish now leads is certainly a far cry from the normality she was so determined to avoid.
At the age of just eighteen, Eilish had more money than most teenagers could dream of, along with a designer wardrobe, kick-ass high-powered muscle car, and the numbers of top-class artists in her cell phone.
Does Money Buy Happiness?
Billie Eilish once said in an interview that her parents hadn’t ever once said they were proud of Billie or her brother, Finneas.
She also went on to explain her battles with various mental conditions, such as Tourettes, depression, and synesthesia.
She has gone on file on many occasions discussing her issues being judged for her appearance and choice of lifestyle and has undoubtedly felt the sting of being so successful at so young an age.
However, despite all of her success and the wealth now bestowed upon her, it does seem Billie has – for the most part – remained quite down to earth and humble.
She still drives the same car she was gifted by her record company on her seventeenth birthday (her only car), she engages personally with her fans and is always willing to give some time to the press for an open-hearted discussion.
