Usually, the most successful people in the world have some of the rarest personality types. Mark Zuckerberg is one of those individuals so what type of personality does the social media entrepreneur have?
Mark Zuckerberg is an INTP personality type. This personality type is known as the Logician and they are introverted, intuitive, thinking, and prospecting. Many people often think Zuckerberg is an INTJ personality type, however, there are a few things he does that point to INTP instead.
Scroll down to read more below about Mark Zuckerberg’s INTP personality type and why he is more likely an INTP over an INTJ.
Mark Zuckerberg’s INTP Personality
The INTP personality type also has another name, the Logician. It is rightfully named the Logician because people with this personality type tend to be amazing at analyzing patterns and have a keen eye for spotting discrepancies.
INTPs are great at looking at hard problems and coming up with unique solutions to those problems. They are sometimes referred to as robotic because they are quiet and analytical.
That explains why people often say that Zuckerberg is robotic.
According to 16 Personalities, the Logician’s strengths are that they are analytical, open-minded, original, curious, and objective. The Logician’s weaknesses are that they can be disconnected, insensitive, dissatisfied, impatient, and perfectionists.
Does Mark Zuckerberg actually show these characteristics though? Yes, yes he does.
He has shown time and again that he is analytical through his ventures in the world of coding and computer programming. It takes a highly analytical brain to be able to code and program at the level Zuckerberg can even if he says he’s not that good.
Zuckerberg has shown that he is open-minded through his philanthropic adventures and his pledge to The Giving Pledge. He has vowed to give away the majority of his wealth before he dies.
His originality and curiosity have been shown through his multiple creative ventures to create websites, one of which has turned into a multi-billion dollar company. Finally, his objectiveness has been seen when Facebook was put on trial in 2018.
So what about the weaknesses? Unfortunately, Zuckerberg also exhibits the weaknesses of an INTP.
He has shown that he is disconnected many times, especially when he was put on trial for a data breach that infringed on the rights of millions of Americans. He has also come across as insensitive when apologizing for these actions as many felt he was only apologizing to save face.
These weaknesses are very similar to some of the other personality types Zuckerberg is often mistaken for, INTJ.
You can watch the below YouTube video from Arm Chair Typology that highlights how to tell an INTP between and INTJ.
Why Zuckerberg is INTP and not INTJ
The INTJ personality type is also known as the Architect and while it is very close to the INTP personality, people in this category are judgers, not prospectors. This allows for quite a difference between the two personality types.
INTJs are one of the rarest personality types in the world and they are described as people who believe they can achieve anything through willpower and their own intelligence alone. Their strengths are that they are rational, curious, informed, independent, determined, and versatile. Whereas their weaknesses are that they are arrogant, dismissive of emotions, romantically clueless, overly critical, and combative.
One of the biggest ways to tell the difference between an INTP and an INTJ is the difference between judging and prospecting.
People with a ‘J’ or ‘judging’ personality type like to plan things out and take time to consider. They will have a bunch of backup plans to ensure things run smoothly the way they want to.
On the flip side, a ‘P’ or ‘prospecting’ personality type tends to figure things out as they come up. In their minds, it’s more “I’ll deal with this when it arises” and that is exactly where Zuckerberg falls.
Finally, one other sure way to tell the difference is how these personality types think. INTP thinks in a ‘Ti’ or ‘Introverted Thinking’ way while INTJ thinks in a ‘Te’ or ‘Extroverted Thinking’ way. A Ti will think ‘What makes sense to me?’ when a Te thinks ‘Does this process or procedure make sense and work?’
Again, Zuckerberg tends to do things in the way that makes the most sense to him which lands him right in the INTP category, not the INTJ.
