She’s been a star ever since appearing on the Disney Channel as a young child, but what was Miley Cyrus’ first ever song?
Miley Cyrus’ first official track was titled See You Again and was released in 2007 as part of a two-artist album. Officially titled Hannah Montana 2, the set also featured Meet Miley Cyrus, an introduction to the actor behind the character known as Hannah Montana.

Small Town Girl, Big Screen
Miley Cyrus was destined to be a star from the earliest days of her life. Her father was Billy Ray Cyrus, a prominent star in his own time. Miley enjoyed a star-studded career as she grew up, especially considering Dolly Parton is her Godmother.
These musical and performing influences shaped Miley as she grew up. She was born in 1992 in Tennessee, but by the age of just ten, she would be shaping up to take a career on the screen. She dabbled lightly with acting in debut roles, but would see her biggest portion of success when she landed a lead Disney role.
In 2003, at age eleven, Miley auditioned for Hannah Montana. This show portrayed a young girl living a double life: that of a popstar, and a regular teenage girl. Coincidentally, given her lack of experience, she auditioned for a supporting role. Her audition was so good, however, that she landed the lead role.
You can see an old video on YouTube below, showing a very young Miley Cyrus auditioning for the show.
Her singing chops helped, of course. The lead role called for someone with a great voice, and she had that in spades. After developing, writing and recording, the show first debuted on the Disney Channel in 2004 to a great reception.
The success of the show allowed Cyrus to expand as an artist. She toured with another Disney Channel group, and performed songs from the show. Ultimately, she’d release music, but under the Hannah Montana moniker.
Hannah Montana skyrocketed, and Cyrus saw incredible success. She became the first persona within Disney to earn deals in film, music, television and merchandise. However, the breakout from Disney was approaching, and Cyrus wanted to stand on her own two feet.
Meet Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus signed a massive contract with recording label Hollywood Contracts. There was a two-disc release in 2007, one side for Hannah Montana, the other for Miley Cyrus. Coincidentally, this was titled Meet Miley Cyrus.
It was designed to ‘introduce’ fans to the real person behind the Hannah Montana persona: Miley. The lead single from this album was See You Again, and served as Cyrus’ debut track. She saw incredible success with her music, so much so that as time went on, she’d gravitate away from acting.
She took roles in movies, but never had considerable success like she had with Hannah Montana. Instead, she focused on music as the years rolled on. By 2020, she’d have released six studio albums, and be working on another. She’d embarked on five huge tours, and collaborated with countless artists.
As she aged, she seemed to find constant controversy. Whether this concerned sexuality, drugs, relationships or attitude, Cyrus had plenty of bad press. Although there’s no such thing as ‘bad publicity’, she wound up falling out of favour with a lot of her fans.
Her image completely and irrevocably changed in the mid-2010s, as Cyrus truly became her own, independent person. She became outspoken about her use of cannabis and boasted that she loved getting stoned and high.
She even invested in a cannabis company in August of 2019. However, the horizon wasn’t all bad for Cyrus. She would fall in and out of relationships, but ultimately stand true to her own beliefs. She’d be worth around $160 million by 2020, and would still be seeing musical success.
