Drake is one of the world’s top musical talents, having been performing since 2001. Who are his closest friends?
Drake reportedly has an ‘inner circle’ of friends that form a group called OVO. It’s Drake’s music label, but it’s a friend-driven venture. At the top are Noah Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib. He’s also close friends with co-manager Adel Nur, and security head Nessel Beezer.
Read on to learn more about Drake and his superstar friendships.
The Inner Circle
Someone like Drake will always have a massive following. Not only is he a talented actor and musician, but he’s popular in celebrity circles.
He’s made friends with some of the biggest names in music and boasts an entourage that’s equally as star-studded.
In 2012, Drake went the same way as many musicians do: he founded his own music label.
However, he didn’t pursue this venture alone. In on the game with him were some of his closest friends. There was a three-headed management structure to the group, OVO Sound, and all of the men were long-time pals.
First, was Drake. He was the driving force and likely the monetary provider behind the venture.
Given that he was the iconic and recognizable musical talent in the trio, he’d also be the face of the brand. He’d also come to be represented by the label, along with artists like PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan, and Roy Woods.
Next on the roster was Noah ‘40’ Shebib. Reportedly, he and Drake had known each other for years when they started the label together.
Shebib actually owned his own studio in Canada, which would come to be the headquarters for OVO Sound. He’d also work constantly as a chief collaborator on Drake’s tracks.
The third and final leader of OVO Sound was Oliver El-Khatib. Allegedly, it was Oliver who created the name for the brand. OVO itself actually stands for “October’s Very Own”, and is a reference to both El-Khatib’s and Drake’s birth month.
Not satisfied with co-heading the label, El-Khatib has also co-managed Drake since way back in 2013.
There are other people who Drake would consider close friends, and they’re not all associated directly with OVO. For instance, Adel Nur, the second part of Drake’s management team.
He has also co-managed Drake, along with El-Khatib, since 2013. He used to be Drake’s tour DJ but was ultimately promoted.
Celebrity Circle
Living life at the core of the music industry is an opportunity to build powerful bridges. During his years in the spotlight, Drake has landed countless celebrity friendships, some more unexpected than others.
For example, Drake is reportedly quite good friends with pop star Adele. An article was published in 2019 which revealed that the pair had recently spent a weekend just hanging out. They’d toured several locations around Los Angeles, eating together and going bowling.
In 2018, Adele voiced her approval and praise for Drake on Twitter. Reportedly, a friendship blossomed from there, with Drake firing back a wholesome Instagram post.
What started off as professional showmanship turned into a glorious friendship.
There was a TMZ article published that showcased all of Drake’s most famous friends. The roster was impressive, with personas being revealed from all aspects of the celebrity ecosystem.
There were sports personalities, musicians, actors, and entertainers of all types and categories. Among the roster were the likes of Kevin Hart, LeBron James, Rihanna, Idris Elba, and DJ Khaled.
Of course, it isn’t just friends that come close to Drake. Over the years, there have been more than a fair share of rumors regarding potential relationships and intimate partners. There has been little ground left uncovered when it comes to possible partners for the Canadian superstar.
Some of the more prominent people who have been under speculation are Serena Williams, Zoe Kravitz, and Rihanna.
There were also rumors flying about Bella Hadid at one point. The base foundation for many of these rumors is of course on social media, as is the commonality among celebrity circles.
Drake does have a child, but it wasn’t with a woman he was ever in a relationship with. His son, Adonis Graham, was born by a woman called Sophie Brussaux, and former adult movie star. The pair were never formally together, but Drake does see and support his son.
There are a lot of romantic lyrics in Drake’s music.
These paint a fair picture of his outlook on relationships, and of love. Some have even gone as far as to label his lyrics ‘thirsty’, as in his track Hold On We’re Going Home.
