Is Gordon Ramsay a Natural Blonde?

by Lisa Carter
2020/10/06

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is no stranger to having various procedures done to make himself look younger, and better for the cameras. What about dyeing his hair? Is Gordon Ramsay a natural blonde?

Gordon Ramsay is a natural blonde, though his roots are a little darker these days, and he does admit to dyeing lighter it to make him look younger as he has some grays coming in. He’s not the first, nor will he be the last, man to dye his hair.

Because his roots are darker than the rest of his hair, many people question if he is a true blond. But most blonde hair turns a little darker, almost dirty blonde, as people get older, and being up against the lighter blonde spots, it becomes more noticeable.

It’s All in the Genes

Gordon Ramsay isn’t the only one in his family to have blonde hair, in fact, his mother is blonde, and so are three of his five kids. His wife and other two children have brown hair. His oldest son Jack looks just like him, and one look at Jack and you know he’s a true blonde due to his eyelashes and eyebrows being so blonde.

There are also pictures of a young Gordon that shows his hair was lighter blonde when he was younger and then it darkened up as he got older, yet it was still a variation of blonde. Most people have one idea in mind when they hear blonde, however, there are actually at least thirteen variations of blonde hair, and it’s very common for someone to have more than one variation in their lifetime.

Fighting to Look Younger

From hair transplants to botox, to teeth whitening, Gordon Ramsay has had various procedures done for different reasons. He also has no problem admitting to them. In addition to admitting to dyeing his hair, he’s admitted to botox, after his kids would make fun of him.

He admitted to getting hair transplants as he figured it was best to get it done before there are pictures of him with little to no hair floating around. In fact, he ended up having a second procedure for his hair as well.

He also got his teeth whitened to look better for the cameras, though it is unclear how. He admitted to having them whitened, and some speculate that he actually had veneers put in.

He states that he is not vain by having all of these procedures done, but that he does want to look as best he can for his shows, and when he gets photographed, which is pretty regularly.

Nobody bats an eye when a woman dyes her hair or gets small procedures like the ones that Ramsay has had, but when men do it, it’s almost as if it’s a scandal. There are plenty more men out there having procedures and lying about them, so it’s refreshing to see someone talking and joking about having them done.

Cosmetic Surgery Roots

People have been concerned about their looks since there have been people walking the planet. While cosmetic surgery doesn’t date back that far, it still goes back a long way, with the first record dating back to 6th century BC when an Indian doctor performed a skin graft to correct the look of the person.

Cosmetic surgery advanced over the years, and at first, the majority of procedures were done due to injuries sustained in war. Surgeons were able to make soldiers feel whole again after losing a body part, or being completely disfigured.

It isn’t until more recent times that perfectly healthy people have been opting to have surgery to improve any area of their bodies that they aren’t happy with. There has always been a risk of having surgery, and just because we have higher standards, better technology and understanding, doesn’t mean that surgery is without risk today.

Since the risk is less than in previous times, elective surgery has gained popularity over the past few decades. However, people still die, one famous example is Joan Rivers, who passed away after she stopped breathing during a routine out-patient procedure on her larynx at her doctor’s office.
