From wearing chill shoes like Uggs and creepers to rockin stilettos on the runway, Rihanna has worn some amazing shoes. With such a wide variety of shoes, the singer has to have a fairly accessible foot size.
Rihanna wears a women’s US size 9 shoe. Although a lot of magazines have reported this to be a large size foot, it’s right on average for the United States. People’s Feet Are Getting Bigger
In 2014, The Independent published an article that examined why people’s feet are getting bigger. The article said that “In the US, the average female foot was a 6.5 in the 1960s (equivalent to UK size 4), rising to 7.5 in the 1970s (UK 5). Today, the average American woman has a shoe size between 8.5 and 9 – equivalent to a UK 6.5.”
According to Cleveland Clinic, people’s feet actually change size overtime. In their interview with the podiatrist Dr. Joy Rowland, she highlights that “Over time and because of gravity, our feet tend to get longer and wider. That happens after our ligaments and our tendons become a little bit more lax over time.” She then goes on to explain that certain conditions such as bunions, plantars fasciitis, hammertoes, diabetes, and arthritis can all have effects on your shoe size as you age.
Rihanna has a US size 9 foot right now, but it’s possible that her size could change to a 9.5 or even 10 as she gets older.
A Look At Rihanna’s Footwear
Rihanna’s shoe size is average in the US where sizes 8.5 and 9 are the most commonly worn. Since she has such an accessible foot size, Riri’s shoe game has always been on point. Although with her fashion iconography, it’s likely she would wear whatever shoes she wanted despite her foot size.
In 2016, Rihanna was spotted wearing a pair of $10,000 Yves Saint Laurent rhinestone covered boots fresh off of the runway. She posted a picture of herself wearing the boots to her Instagram. A year later, she was spotted wearing another pair of expensive YSL boots. Harper’s Bazaar highlighted in an October 2017 article, “The heeled boot—which features fringed, feather-like strands covering the whole leg—is a part of creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s third collection for YSL, which he debuted right under the Eiffel Tower last Tuesday.”
Riri also appears to be bringing back the trend of wearing Ugg boots. In January of 2019, she was seen at JFK airport wearing the infamous boots along with baggy jeans, a hoodie, and an oversized black jacket. The look was totally airplane travel comfy.
