American actor, producer and comedian, Vince Vaughn, has had an illustrious Hollywood career spanning a variety of genres. He’s clearly talented, but can he sing?
Vince Vaughn, whilst not a professional singer, has performed the baseball anthem ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ on numerous occasions in support of the Chicago Cubs. He also participated in the 2010 rerecording of ‘We Are the World’, in aid of Haiti, alongside celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Celine Dion.
Read on to learn more about Vince Vaughn’s talents and whether or not he can sing.
Who is Vince Vaughn?
Vince Vaughn began her career when he landed a Chevrolet TV commercial in 1988. He then rose to prominence as an actor in the 90s, with appearances in ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’ and ‘Swingers’.
He’s since firmly established himself as a staple comedy actor, with a career spanning three decades and numerous leading roles alongside other Hollywood stars.
His professional talents don’t seem to extend to music, although he was introduced to musical theatre as a child. Clearly, it was the acting side of things that he was keen to pursue, although he’s made some surprise singing appearances over the years.
Taking the Mic
The actor is an undisputed Chicago Cubs super fan, who grew up supporting the club. He told the Chicago Tribune before a game in 2016, “I remember coming a lot as a kid. It’s just a different atmosphere but it’s the same Wrigley Field”.
He narrated the Cubs’ World Series film, released in 2016 after they became champions, so it’s no surprise that he’d previously been called on to take the mic in their honor.
He’s sung the baseball anthem ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ on multiple occasions, but his highest profile performance came in 2016 when he was asked to sing for the Cubs during Game 4 at Wrigley Field.
Before his memorable performance, when asked about any pre-song nerves, he responded “I have everyone here in Wrigley with me, so it should be easy”.
Vaughn later joked on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ that his performance was a turning point for the team, saying that after he sang the “score became undeniable for the Cubs and a lot of people see this as a catalyst moment” in their win.

‘We Are the World’
‘We Are the World’ was originally created in 1985, to raise money to fight famine in Africa, and was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
When a remake of the song was created and released in February 2010, to raise money for Haiti, Vaughn’s appearance amongst the music industry’s elite caused a bit of a stir.
An NPR review summarized Vaughn’s appearance in the remake by saying simply, “but what is Vince Vaughn doing there? Did he follow someone into the studio?”.
Luckily Vaughn also saw the funny side, joking to MTV “what’s so funny about that? When you think of raising money with singing, obviously I’m going to be sitting there”.
He referred to the song as a “beautiful prayer” that he remembers being released in his childhood, and said of his desire to participate in the remake:
Honestly, for me, I felt very grateful to be included and unfortunately sometimes it takes these kinds of things to bring people together”. He added, “I think the great thing, and I’m very happy to be an actor, but music is the highest art form. Music can take you the farthest, the fastest emotionally in the quickest time”.
It would seem it’s not so much a question of can he sing but rather does he want to sing, and when opportunity and cause presents itself, Vaughn is very much up to the task.
