There was a time when Emma Watson showed up for an interview in glasses. Does she need them to see though or was it just for fun?
Emma Watson does not wear glasses. She has perfect 20/20 vision. However, in 2012 there were pictures of the actress wearing a pair of Chanel glasses. These were not for her eyesight and were actually just a black frame clear lens demo pair. Watson does have a great taste in sunglasses, which she does wear all the time.
You can read more below about Emma Watson’s Chanel glasses and the different styles of sunglasses she has worn.
Emma Watson’s Chanel Glasses
In 2012, when Emma Watson visited BBC Radio 1, she sported a pair of glasses. People started to wonder if the activist needed glasses to see. These glasses were only a pair of demo glasses that had a fake clear lens in them.
The brand of glasses she was wearing were Chanel and they were model 3221q C714. Emma was at the BBC studios for an interview with Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1 to promote her new at the time movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
While at the studio, The Radio 1 Breakfast Show team showed Emma a picture of a fan’s tattoo of Hermione Granger. In order to see the photo properly, she actually takes off her pair of Chanel glasses. Clearly, she doesn’t need the glasses to see.
You can watch the full video version of the interview on BBC Radio 1’s YouTube by following the below link.
Watson Likes Ray-Bans
While Emma Watson doesn’t wear regular glasses for vision, she has worn some really stylish pairs of sunglasses. This doesn’t come as a surprise since she is known to be very involved in the world of fashion. And it is fairly clear that the Colonia actress really likes Ray-Bans.
To be fair though, who doesn’t like a nice pair of Wayfarer shades? Emma Watson seems to agree with that statement as she has been seen wearing the Original Wayfarers and the New Wayfarers out in public. If you Google Image search “Emma Watson in sunglasses”, Wayfarer sunglasses are most frequently seen worn by the actress. She has sported many different styles and colors of Ray-Ban’s most famous line.
She is also no stranger to the Ray-Ban Clubmaster design of shades. She wore a pair while hanging out in the Hamptons back in 2012.
Gucci and More Chanel
Other than her love for Ray-Ban, Watson has sported other brands of sunglasses, all designer. In the 2013 film The Bling Ring, there is a scene where Emma’s character is appearing in court. In the scene, she addresses the press while wearing a pair of oversized Gucci GG3500/S sunglasses. Because she has an oval shaped face, these oversized sunglasses work perfectly on her.
Watson has a new connection to Gucci as well. On June 16, 2020, Kering, the company that owns Gucci, announced that Emma Watson would now sit on the board of the company. They said that she will be chairing the board’s sustainability committee as the company moves towards offering greener products.
Emma Watson also appears to be a big fan of Chanel. Not only did she wear the pair of demo Chanel glasses, she is commonly seen out wearing Chanel sunglasses. She has been spotted wearing Chanel 5131h sunglasses on multiple occasions. These ones are black framed and black lensed, another oversized style. Another Chanel style of sunglasses that Watson has sported are the Butterfly style CH420, although they are no longer manufactured. The closest style now would be the 5338H style of Butterfly sunglasses.
Of course, Watson has sported other brands of sunglasses. Those would include the high fashion brand Oliver Peoples. Watson has worn their style of sunglasses called Emelita. Again, this is another style of sunglasses that is no longer manufactured by the brand.
