Celebrity Chef, Gordon Ramsay, is often seen around Los Angeles with his best buddy, David Beckham. One thing Beckham is known for, other than European football, is the numerous tattoos he has everywhere. Did Beckham’s penchant for ink runoff onto his foodie friend? Does Gordon Ramsay have tattoos?
No – Gordon Ramsay doesn’t have any tattoos. Though he did joke he would get one on his butt, where nobody would see it, after completing his first Ironman. Well, he’s completed a full Ironman, but still no word on if he stuck to his plan, or not.
Ramsay originally joked that he would get a tattoo on his butt, and later he said he was going to get a discrete IM on the back of his ankle after finishing an Ironman. Well, he’s completed both half, and full, Ironman competitions but there’s no word, or photos with regards to a tattoo. So, I’m guessing that he’s still free of ink.
History of Tattoos
There are many different reasons why people tattoo themselves, and the reasons have changed over the years. Tattooing has been going on for thousands of years, with the oldest evidence pointing to the Neolithic era. Otzi the Iceman, a mummy from the 4th millennia was found in the Alps with carbon tattoos of dots and lines.
People held different beliefs about tattoos; some taking pride in them, others believing they were barbaric, and others yet used to use them on prisoners. In our lifetimes they have been seen as a form of prejudice, art, expression, and femininity.
It’s not just biker gangs and prisoners that have tattoos. Athletes, Celebrities, Police, Teachers, and everyone in between. Nowadays not only do you not have to cover them up as much, some people are using tattoos to feel more alive.
Some women use tattoos to permanently ink makeup on them, so they can reduce the time it takes to get ready each day, and to feel feminine all the time. Other women have been using them to take power back after losing a breast, or two, to breast cancer. Instead of getting implants after the removal, some are opting for beautiful designs to take the place of breasts.
Whatever the reasons for tattoos over the years, it doesn’t look like it’s a practice that’s going to come to a halt anytime soon. And, with Ramsay’s reluctance, it looks like it’s not going to be accepted by all anytime soon either.
Ramsay’s Admiration of Other’s Tattoos
While Gordon Ramsay may not be a fan of tattoos for himself, he has admired other tattoos, including his friend David Beckham’s. He’s been a fan of some art, and not so much when it comes to others.
One that he wasn’t a fan of, had him commenting twice in a matter of minutes, including correcting the spelling of his last name.
There was one tattoo, a warped one at that, in which he was a fan of. He not only liked the post on social media, but he started following the tattoo artist as well! The tattooist, Farren Almeida, is a huge Gordon Ramsay fan, and was thrilled when Ramsay commented and liked the post. He offered up the tattoo for free to a lucky volunteer.
There’s Still Hope
Gordon Ramsay has been involved in marathons, ultra-marathons, and Ironman competitions for years now. It has helped him over the years, including to lose over 50 pounds a few years back. He thanks his wife for being his motivation and now works out and runs with her.
His son Jack has since taken up alongside his famous dad at the starting line, to compete along with him. Perhaps Ramsay the elder and Ramsay the junior will get matching tattoos after completing an epic race.
Perhaps Kona, which is the championships of Ironman competition.
