Vin Diesel has always been extremely fit and known for his muscular physique. However, his role in the “Fast and the Furious 7” movie encouraged him to add a new twist to his fitness routine.
Vin Diesel does know martial arts. When training for his role in the “Fast and the Furious 7” movie, he began training in martial arts as well, including jumping high kicks and fight training.
Vin Diesel’s Martial Arts Training
While Vin Diesel has always been extremely fit, he decided to take it up a notch in 2013 when he was training for “The Fast and the Furious 7.” This training regimen led him to discover martial arts.
With the introduction of this new form of training, Vin Diesel became the biggest, strongest version of himself that he had ever been- all at 46 years old.
To see a video of Vin Diesel performing his martial arts training when he first began in 2013, view this video of Vin Diesel with his combat training coach, Tony Ja, using the YouTube link below. You will see him performing impressive jumping high kicks, and becoming more defined in his muscles.
It looks like Vin Diesel is enjoying his new hobby, especially in the linked video. However, just as soon as you thought Vin Diesel could do it all, it seems he has found something else to brag about – MXMA: Motocross Martial Arts.
Vin Diesel came up with the new, creative fighting style while filming “xXx: Return of Xander Cage.” As it sounds, the fighting style is the equivalent of doing martial arts, but with a motorcycle.
It is extremely intense and, let’s be honest, something only Vin Diesel could actually pull off.
Vin Diesel’s Fitness Routine
So, for those of us that do not want to begin a career in martial arts for the fear of getting physically hurt, what is Vin Diesel’s “normal” fitness routine?
Regardless of the workout routine, Vin Diesel follows five tips:
- Train smarter, not harder
- Shock your muscles with a high intensity first set of the workout
- Always make time for a workout
- Learn to love working out
- Look at every good workout as a victory
Vin Diesel firmly believes that you do not have to workout every day in order to be successful, either. Vin Diesel understands the significant burden of life on the go, even if it includes traveling the world on an average week.
He takes the time to do weight training three times per week, and saves the rest of the days of the week for rest, yoga, or pilates.
On the first strengthening day, he performs six supersets that target chest, shoulders, and triceps. On the second day, he isolates the shoulders and back muscles. Lastly, on the third strength training day, he only works the legs.
While he originally began working out so that he could build muscle mass and add strength, he now incorporates more cardio and core-based exercises into his workout routine so that he can keep his body fat percentage low.
It seems to be working for him, as Vin Diesel boasts a solid 6 foot, 225 pound frame. It is enough to motivate all of us to make time to hit the gym!
