The Beginning of Vin Diesel’s Fitness Journey
Before moving to Hollywood, like many struggling actors, Vin Diesel had to work his fair share of sub par jobs in order to pay the bills.
One of these jobs was to work as a bouncer in New York City. Because of the demands of the job, Vin Diesel was forced to stay in shape.
In fact, he did not earn the name Vin “Diesel” for nothing.
To keep the scene under control when guests would get out of hand, Vin Diesel maintained a strong body and stayed in shape. He admits that, during that time of his life, he tried to gain as much weight as possible.
Now, he focuses on staying strong, while losing any extra body fat that he might carry. He runs and does some fight training to keep his body fat percentage minimal.
As far as strength training, Vin Diesel takes a more tedious, planned approach. He says that he focuses on defining each body part individually.
First, he “shocks the muscle” with two sets of powerlifting. Then, he goes into higher rep sets after that to maintain and strengthen the targeted muscle.
Vin Diesel is six feet tall, weighing in at 225 pounds. He trains five days per week, and then does yoga, pilates, or rests on the other two days to give his body some time to restore itself.
Vin Diesel’s Diet
Vin Diesel works out like a tank, so he has to eat well too. To fuel himself for his grueling workouts, his demanding job, maintaining his energy as an engaged father of three, and his constant life on the go, Vin Diesel follows a strict diet that focuses on making sure he has all of the nutrients that he needs to feel good.
His breakfasts are more focused on finding complex carbohydrate sources that give him gradual fuel to maintain his energy throughout the day. This might include a variation of oats on any given morning, or anything that has a substantial amount of fiber.
In addition to his carbohydrate sources, Vin Diesel often eats foods like almond butter or chia seeds that have healthy fats and high protein content.
For lunch, Vin Diesel focuses on protein. He often looks for foods that are high in protein and low in healthy fats while also being low in carbohydrates, especially when he is trying to lower his body fat for any upcoming acting roles.
Then, because of his caloric demands, a second lunch for Vin Diesel includes a bit more carbohydrate sources to fuel him with proper nutrition for his workout.
Lastly, Vin Diesel’s dinner includes more of a protein focus with adequate carbohydrates to help his body continue to build muscle mass. Because at the end of the day, the more muscle mass and the less fat content the better for him.
I guess that is likely the goal for all of us at one point or another. Regardless, the discipline that Vin Diesel has to maintain this shape is impressive.
