There has always been a lot of buzz around the extravagant purchases billionaires make and Jeff Bezos is no exception, especially when rumors arise that he purchased a yacht.
No, Jeff Bezos does not own a yacht. There have been multiple rumors over the years that Bezos has purchased a yacht, but none of those rumors have been confirmed. After purchasing a $65 million private jet and a $165 million house, it wouldn’t be out of the question for the Amazon CEO to purchase a yacht.
Scroll down to find out about some of the rumors surrounding Bezos purchasing a yacht, as well as information on some of Bezos’ biggest purchases.
Rumors Surrounding Flying Fox
It was in August of 2019 that rumors started popping up about Jeff Bezos purchasing a yacht named Flying Fox. Flying fox is a $400 million superyacht that was constructed by a company named Lürssen. Construction finished on the yacht earlier in 2019 and it was when the yacht docked at a popular tourist destination in Turkey that rumors began surfacing surrounding Bezos.
Fresh off of his divorce from wife MacKenzie Bezos, many people would not put such an extravagant purchase past Jeff. However, as soon as the rumors arose, an Amazon representative was quick to quell them.
Although it is still unknown who the owner of Flying Fox is, there is a lot of speculation that the designer of the yacht, Espen Oeino, is the real owner. Flying Fox can be arranged for charter at a whopping $3.5 million USD a week.
Bezos’ Biggest Purchases
Maybe Bezos doesn’t own a superyacht, one of the most extravagant purchases a billionaire can make, but he does own some other lavish things. The biggest purchase of them all would probably be his new Beverly Hills mansion.
Bezos purchased the mansion from billionaire music producer and business magnate, David Geffen, for $165 million. The mansion is added to Bezos’ ever growing list of properties, although it is unclear how these properties were divided upon his divorce from MacKenzie Bezos.
Other than his real estate holdings, Bezos also owns a Gulfstream G650ER private jet. He purchased this jet for $65 million. Another one of his biggest purchases, or what you may want to call an investment, would be the construction of a giant clock. The goal of the clock is to run for 10,000 years and Bezos has invested $42 million in its construction.

Would Bezos Want to Buy a Yacht?
Well, Bezos is no stranger to yachting. After his divorce was settled in July of 2019, Bezos spent the rest of the summer travelling around Europe with his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez. Some of their travels included yacht hopping in the mediterranean.
Would Bezos actually want a yacht of his own though? That is a hard question to answer. Bezos has generally tried to stay out of the media spotlight, although now that he is with Lauren Sánchez it is probably becoming more difficult. Bezos does seem to base his purchases more off of practicality than anything else.
Looking at his purchasing history, he has spent money on things that either make his life more convenient or will produce a return on his investment. A yacht doesn’t really fall into either of these categories. You may now be thinking “well wait, he spent a ton of money on a giant clock, how is that an investment?” In Bezos’ mind, it is an investment in the future, science, and “an icon for long-term thinking.”
With these points in mind, it seems unlikely that Bezos would ever purchase a yacht, but this is all speculation. Who can really say what moves the world’s richest man will make next.
